The level of interactivity is way above that of Nintendogs. And seeing yourself interact with the pet adds another layer of fun to the game.[QUOTE="byge"][QUOTE="kejigoto"]I don't see many people investing in a PS3 for something like this, even if the price does come down. Why spend $400+ on a console when you spend around $150 and get a DS with Nintendogs and you can take that anywhere with you? Sony is trying to reach out to the casual market, but they are completely missing the mark. That and Nintendo alrady has a death grip on the entire casual audience, which I couldn't imagine getting another game system just for a glorified virtual pet.kejigoto
This may be true, but think about the average consumer this will be targeted at, price is going to play a huge part in this and price is something that Sony won't have on their side this generation. Not to mention you need a PS3 (which I doubt many casual gamers will have), the eyetoy, and the game, which will put them in well over $500 if the price stays as it is now. I'm not saying it won't be better than Nintendogs, what I am saying is that people won't look at it that way, they'll go with what is cheap and what they know. What they do know is Nintendo and Nintendogs. Won't they don't know is Sony.
I already pointed to the PS3's price being an important factor in the games success in the OP. And everyone is expecting a price drop next year.I don't see many people investing in a PS3 for something like this, even if the price does come down. Eyepet for those of you who don't know is a virtual pet game that allows gamers to interact with their pet by utilizing the PlayStation Eye peripheral. If you put an object in front of the PS Eye, the pet will interact with it on screen. If you wave your fingers in front of the PS Eye, you can tickle your "loveable, simian-like pet. The player can place objects in front of the animal and the game will interpret what the object is and respond to.
This game has the potential to catch the imagination of much of the casual gamers more so than Gran Turismo or LittleBigPlanet. Because you are interacting with a cute lovable furry using hand motion.
As an example when the DS game sales were slow in the beginning but thanks to the release of Nintendogs which is similar to this.
Now if Sony markets this correctly and if the price of the PS3 is dropped by the time this comes out i can say with confidence that this will be Sony's best selling game next year.
