Your going to have to fine out your powersupply information. Unless you've already upgrade your powersupply since owning the computer, your going to most likely need a new one.mastershake575

Thanks for the heads up. Checked on it and it's only a 375W power supply. Too little? If so, how high should I go?

Ok, then that's resolved. New card is the way to go for now... was hoping I didn't need whole new rig as this one seems to run everything else I need just fine.

Newer question though, Newegg also has a Sapphire Radeon 3870 for $100 (after $20 rebate). Go with the 3850 for $70 or 3850 for $100???

As long as it's PCI-E and fits sizewise, should be fine even in a Dell, correct? Case and slot seem to have plenty of room.

I've got an almost 3 yr old Dell Dimension 9100 and trying to decide whether to upgrade the GPU or just get an entire new system. Definitely not a hardcore gamer, but game a bit here and there. Used to play WOW, FEAR, etc... could possibly get back into it if any upcoming MMORPG's (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.) are any good.

System specs:

Pentium D 820 (2.8 GHz) Dual Core

3 GB DDR2 SDRAM @ 533 MHz

256 MB PCI-E x16 GeForce 6800

NewEgg has a Sapphire Radeon 3850 (512MB) card for $70 (after $15 rebate). Would this give me a NOTICEABLE upgrade??? Been out of the upgrade/system build loop for past few years, so clueless with today's components.

Do games like Jade Empire offer any achievement points on the 360?

Is the downloadable game the same exact game that was out on the original Xbox? Or do they update graphics, widescreen, etc.?

Looks like Steam is the dominant winner around here. Will there be enough games for me to play on Steam since I don't have a monster gaming-geared desktop, just a regular, average laptop?

Any experience with most of the above-mentioned games running on Vista?

I've obviously been out of PC gaming for the past few years, so am new to this purchase and download type gaming. I haven't bought a PC game since F.E.A.R. I think. Any suggestions for reputable, quality sites other than Steam (only one I know so far)?
