Get windows 7 pro. XP mode has been a lifesaver for me when it came to several older programs and even games that wouldn't load on windows 7.

That mobo & PSU will do fine. You can switch to an i7 if you want but it will be more expensive. The AMD setup is a good rig for gaming. Unless you need all the extra bells & whistles of Win 7 Professional I would just go with Home Premium 64-bit OEM. As the Pro version won't offer anything different for gaming.jtcraft
What about XP mode? Some games I wanna play run in XP. Or will it run those games fine anyway?

You will need an AMD mobo with an AM3 socket for that Phenom II 965 cpu. The mobo you have listed there is an X58 mobo that is used with an Intel Core i7 9xx cpu. I would recommend a psu from Corsair, Antec, or PC Power & Cooling. Otherwise, everything looks good as far as gaming goes.

So will this motherboard due?

Or should i switch to an i7?

And is this PSU good?

Questions first. You guys think this will run a game like Crysis or Starcraft2 on high? Without overheating? Is there anything I'm missing? Will the motherboard fit in the case? Will all the parts be compatible with the Mobo?

Thanks. :)

No, the desktop's CPU is a quad core, while the laptop is a dual core. Though the GPU in the desktop isn't going to play any game on high setting, unless it is an older title. Your probably not even going to be able to play games on medium settings, most likely a mixture of low and medium.

The laptop on the other hand has enough GPU power to play games on high settings.

Okay, laptop it is then.:P

Thanks.:D

Your links don't work, but the laptop would be better because it has a much better video card.

You do realize though that you will have to have the laptop plugged in, effectively making it a desktop, when you game right?

kilerchese

I'm not only gonna be gaming on it, I also want it to do work while on the go.

But I wasn't sure because the proccesseror of the Laptop isn't very good compared to the desktop.

I didn't know which one was more important than the other.

So I have chosen a desktop I want.

Operating systemGenuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

ProcessorAMD Phenom(TM) X4 955 quad-core processor [3.2GHz, 2MB L2 + 6MB L3 shared, up to 4000MHz]

Memory8GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM [4 DIMMs]

Hard drive750GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive

Graphics card1GB ATI Radeon HD 5570 [DVI, HDMI, DP,VGA adapter]

Primary optical driveLightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive

You can find the page here.

So can the desktop run newer or more advanced games like Crysis on high? Will I need to uprgrade soon? Is it worth the price?

But I still might get a laptop. You can find it here.

So will this be able to run games like Crysis or other advanced games on high(ish) settings, or should I stick with the Desktop?

I prefer having a laptop, but I just want to know wether it being more expensive, but less advanced is worth it.

Operating systemGenuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

ProcessorIntel(R) Core(TM) i5-430M Dual Core processor (2.26GHz, 3MB L2 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.53GHz
