The Macbook Air is a halo product (no relation to the game), and is designed to increase sales of other Apple products rather than be a viable product in its own right. Because of the radical design everyone has been checking it out, and because of the high price only the famous/rich/"trendy" are going to buy it. Because of this the Air has generated a ton of hits on Apples website. So people are looking at the Air and thinking "wow this is pretty cool, I wonder how much it costs..." and then they're hit with sticker shock, especially if they understand how weak the Air's specs are considering the price. But then they look at the display for the regular Macbook and see that it's still pretty damn small, and that it only costs about $1100 dollars. Suddenly that Macbook looks like a damn steal compared to the Air, and therefore Macbook sales should increase.
