Twilight princess was no different from any other zelda, and you've got to admit the moton controls where tacked on.
Twilight Princess was far more cinematic, had much darker tone, and actually had an engaging story. And it's dialogues were top-notch. I don't understand why you even brought up motion controls, topic is about cinematic story in Zelda. And there was one. Just because it doesn't have explosions, gore, or fast moving camera, doesn't mean it isn't cinematic. watching a character do nothing but stand there....Yeah thats very cinematic. An first off who said anything about explosions and gore. Is that your definition of cinematic? I'm just saying the formula used to deliver the story is dated. Think back to when you first played SSB on the Wii. Did you not enjoy the cutscenes or where you pissed they added them?ceelogic's forum posts
This ain't just a no. It's a HELL NO.
I don't want Zelda to turn into this modern crap games today are. If I wanted a cinematic story I'd go watch a movie.
But isn't a game just a interactive movie? It delivers a story to it's audience with control over the main character.Twilight princess was no different from any other zelda, and you've got to admit the moton controls where tacked on.
All of them eventually.
I've played just about every zelda from the handheld to the console versions throughout the years. The formula for zelda has remained the same, all the handheld follow the blueprint set by links awakening of the snes days andall the 3dzeldasuse the ocarina of time. I'm not bashing the franchise just pointing out an observation. I am beginning to feel like I have grown as a gamer but one of my favorite games refuses to travel this road with me. What I'm talking about is how the story of the zelda gamesaredelivered. I'm am tired of just watching the characters with little animation and a sound gif here and there while I read a bunch of dialogue. Nintendo needs to get with the times cause this approach is dated. It makes me believe that the folks over at nintendo are lazy, cheap or just scared to try something new.. It has been four console generations and we haven't heard link speak a word. Is a cut scene here and there too much to ask for. Hell they could even use in game graphics for a more cinematic feel. I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same.
The genre for me would be the JRPG.Throughoutthis generation of consoles I have seen too few JRPG's that have caught my attention. More RPG's where released for the handhelds than both the 360 and PS3 combined. I begin to ask the question...Is this thebeginning of the end of well crafted JRPG's. The story for me is the most important part of any RPG. If I don't care about the characters in the story, the battle system better bekiller orI'll have a hard time completing it. My most memorable character this gen is Kaim fromLOST ODYSSEY. The game was decent with a timed button press battle system. I just wish that some of the stories from Kaim's past were cut scenes and not just a good read. I thought we would have seen a sequel by now.
The battle systemof these games is where I feel the genrenevergrew, FFXII and Kingdom Heartswere steps in the right direction, a mix of the traditional withsomething new. Ididn't care for the system used in FFXIII and the story made me save aF U for a Le'Cie if I everran intoone. The Tales game haven't changed much eithersince the days of the gamecube. These are justexamples, I'm not hating on
I see the PS3 now has a some what healthy line of JRPG's coming but just how many will make the attempt to create some thing that truly stands out.
Too many numbers.... point out one thing i said that is not fact, but isn't boasting the number of exclusives just numbers. I'll admit Sony has been releasing alot of in house games as they desperately try to climb out of the money pit that is ps3, but explain why people continue to choose the 360 over the ps3. Ps3 fanboys greatest argument is that psn is free, but never that the psn experience is better than xbox live, because it's not. Just like the president of sony says if you want the best then you pay for the best.[QUOTE="ceelogic"]
[QUOTE="kuraimen"] This this and this. Why would I buy a 360 that offers me little over the PS3 other than Kinect titles when I can have the same as the 360 + constant flow of awesome exclusives? and with free online play.Heirren
To my knowledge, the consoles are almost neck and neck, no? Not that it matters that much, really. What matters is that MS had a one year head start and Sony is obviously catching up. As we approach the biggest gaming show with E3, Sony only continues to build up steam. I own a 360, and if it was the only console I did own, I'd be pretty upset looking at the games on the horizon.
What also puts MS in a tricky situation is Nintendos next console. If it uses blu ray, or some other bigger storage medium, the ps3 will still be able to recieve ports of next gen games. For this reason I see MS releasing their new console sooner rather than later.
We'll know for sure in two weeks...I for one can't wait.[QUOTE="Heirren"][QUOTE="ceelogic"]
It's good to see the playstation faithful try to bash a console that has constantly out sold the ps3, which sits dead last in the console wars, btw. Hell the wii has sold more. Year after year sony reports losses in the millions yet sony fanboy continue to say that the console is #1. Kinect is killing both the wii and the move, sony's me too attitude towards motion gaming is a bust, collecting dust just like my wii. In orderfor me to play with my kidsI have to buy how many remote$ versus buying the kinect and thats all I would need for everyone to enjoy the experience. Lets face it the masses have spoken the 360 is just better. Now once sony drops that price maybe they will be back in the game, cause there really is no difference in the two systems I have yet to see something done on one console that couldn't be done on the other. The number of disk it takes aside.

The problem with your statement is that it includes too many numbers. Gamers then buy into all the bs regarding which console to buy. At this point in time, Sony is really the only company pushing THE GAMES. Even Nintendo has been rather lazy in this are--NO proper wii zelda yet, seriously? I'd be willing to bet that any xbox owner would LOVE for MS to put more money into the actual games coming out for the system. You can throw sales numbers around all you want, but as far as which company is conducting themselves the best--for the gamer--it is clearly Sony. I'd go as far as saying that their exclusive lineup is the new Nintendo. The production values on a lot of their games are far and above anything else being released.
