are the console commands any fun to mess with?

do they even work?

AncientNecro

Yes they do work. On the PC version. I dont think the xbox can use the console

Fun yes, productive maybe.

They are good if you want to change your appearance mid game, or fix the bugs that occour, had to use the console during the cure vampirism quest to bypass a glitch.

Other uses:

Cheating if your into that sort of thing.

Testing your mods if your into that sort of thing

are the mods worth the upgrade of a video card and the purchase of the PC version?

are there many problems with the mods?

AncientNecro

Well this is a matter of opinion. most mods dont require an upgrade if you can already run oblivion, but im guessing you have it on the xbox.

To answer that, the mods the community tend to develop (if morrowind is anything to go by), get really good. But only certain ones. some mods are rubbish, but thats to be expected when anyone can create one.

However what you have to ask yourself, do you want to replay the game again on the PC, and will you have the patience to play beyond the end of the game and keep on playing mods, for some the answer is no, for others, well lets just say I'm still playing morrowind.

But you really have to make that decision check out some of the mods see if you like the look of any and if you think its worth it. http://www.elderscrolls.com has alist of a few mod sites

Statue in Bruma???
kostyakuzmin

Hell yeah, Its great. I don't think you need to be in the blades though to get it (I'm asuming the imperial dragon thing is the blades).

You dont need to complete the main quest to get it, just pass the main bruma part of the quest.

When I first saw it I was a little confused, I hadn't remembered seeing a statue there before then I noticed it was wearing my armour, Then i noticed while it wasnt holding my main weapon it was holding the first weapon in my inventory, Then I realised. Then I actually read the dedication, which would have saved all that conjecture.

Long story short, yeah its pretty damn cool.

where do i get the imperial dragon armor?Vincent_The_Gun

You need to complete the main quest if you've done that,

A fortnight after (game time) you complete it its in the armoury at the imperial legion compound in the imperial city. Follow the quest marker.

cause they r ****Vincent_The_Gun

........and thats the sort of attitude that would make people not want to answer you.

Oh and dont spread requests over several posts. Its just annoying for people to read. Boost your post count some other way. ie. normal conversation and interesting topics. Thankyou.

Sorry in a grumpy mood today :)

Okay... I'm having issues getting rid of 'Helljoint'.. I've tried to goto Chapels but it doesn't seem to work. Just get messages saying im wicked, and a theft and such.. any help much appriciated..steevz04

The chapels only heal you if you are a good person. this is worked out using your renown.

Your renown is Fame-Infamy. If your renown is less than 0 (ie you have more infamy than fame) you cannot use the chapels.

What you need to do is either make or buy a cure disease potion. Should be able to by these in most alchemy stores. Or create or buy a cure disease spell. These ar bought from mages guilds, created in the Arcane university.

Or finally change you renown.

Fame goes up as you do missions for the fighters or mages guild and do good deed side quests

Infamy goes up as you do missions for the thieves guild or dark brotherhood and do evil deed side quests. Murders etc also increase this.

Will my PC run Oblivion?

I have Windows XP
ATI RADION 9200
512 MB of ram

My PC can run COD2, and BF2 so i was wondering if it could aslo run oblivion

txman123

It meets minimum specs, but only just. Oblivion is a resource hog if ever ther was one. with settings on low and extra fancy effects off you should be able to play it. but you could face slowdown.

As a rough guide id recomend for smooth(ish) play a minimum of

3GHz 64-bit processor
ATI 9800/X800 or Nvidia GeForce 6800GT preferably Geforce 7 range
1 GB RAM

Im running on
AMD athlon 3000+ 64-bit
Nvidia GeForce 7800 (AGP)
1 GB RAM
and I get occasional slowdown, so if that helps you form an opinion.

for the life of me i cannot find what to push to make those walls move in the room where you use the arrow - i looked other places online but all i found was on the south wall - yeah theres NOTHING there - can someone please help me here? it'd be much appreciated.

dazed_dreamer

I have heard there is a glitch here, i didnt experience it but it can be there.  But asuming thats not your problem......

In the room with the statue  you have to shoot at in the opposite end of the room (west I think) there is a pannel on the floor to stand on but its blocked by large stone pillars and Aylied gates. This I assume youve found from your post.

South of this there is a door to another smaller room (if you cant fing it walk the south watll then check your map to see where the off shoot is) but it is practically due south of the gates to open. this door will need to be picked. Inside youll be on a balcony overlooking the room with a button on your left. Push the button. a door will open in the room bellow, its in the shadows and I missed it at first but if you follow the stairs down its prety much straight ahead. (theres normally a creature in this room. some form of ghost or wraith i think depending on level).

From here on in you work through the corridors that opened. You'll find a door that takes you to a new area (Halls of Epoch I think) fight or sneak your way through the creatures there and youll eventually find the button that opens the walls your looking for. Backtrack to the room with the statue. The walls should be up now, and the place will be swarming with creatures. You can figure out the rest I'm sure. but if the walls arent raised after that it might be the glitch.

When you say go to the ArchiveInvalidation.txt, where do I find that. I think I have found it but not sure.

I am assuming the above is the ArchiveInvalidation.txt you wanted me to find. Then you said to paste in the line: textures/landscape/terrainhdgrass01su.dds

Sugar_Shane

Right sorry I wasnt clear, and I just checked. you dont have it to begin with and this mod doesn't come with one so you need to create it your self. you can use the AutoArchiveInvalidation tool in the pack or my recomendation

in the oblivion folder
the C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion. you went to

right click go to new-> Text Document

a new document will apear name it "ArchiveInvalidation.txt" without the quotes.

to add the line, open the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file in notpad (should happen by default when you double click) from here its a case of pasting (or typing if you prefer)

textures/landscape/terrainhdgrass01su.dds

into the file. Those / should be backslashes though so remember and change them ;). For each mod that asks you to put something in to this file, no need to recreate it, just open it and put each command on a new line.

Important: Correction to instalation
Also something you typed made me notice a mistake in my instructionsthis. I missed that htey had a poor path set up.

So to correct it go into the "better grass without tiling_TESSource " folder you found. Cut the textures folder then go to C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data and paste it in there.

Delete the "better grass without tiling_TESSource " folder if you want, its doing nothing.

Sorry about that I read the readme file and didnt look at the file structure, somewhere along the line someones(my guess is gamespot) has changed it so it doesnt use a *.rar (a different kind of zip, which you need a specific program to deal with). I'll go fix my original post so no one else can make this mistake and blame me.

Hope this helps and happy playing.

I tried that....My sneak is 64. Does that mean that I have to leave???? I spent a couple days just to get to this point. Thanks for the help though. Does anyone else know anything I could do?
koopatroopa75

Ah, then you may have a problem. you do have to remain undetected till you sit in the reading chair or you wont get the scroll, as far as i know. taking off boots and armour could help if you got any enchantments or potions or magic that increase stealth or sneak, nows the time to use them. Out with that I have no clue, and i can understand why you wouldnt want to do the previous bit over, as it sure aint an easy journey.

You could always follow the patrolling guards for a few hours to increas your sneak. lol. Then again, maybe not.

can u equipe more than one weapon and change between them by pressing a bottom?gin_maiden

If I'm understanding you right, yes you can. At least on the PC. In your inventory press and hold a number between 1 and 9 a cirle will appear with numbered slots. Click the weapon you want to bind to that number, let go of the number. Now whenever you need a wepon press the related number. This works for spells and armour too.

If you drop an item it will unassign it even if you pick it back up. So you need to repeat the process.

I dont know how this works on the x-box, if its even possible
