@blessedbyhorus: Stop talking out of your ass. Uncharted has passed Gears in popularity and any one paying attention can see it. Hell Uncharted 4 will probably outsell Halo 5.

If Uncharted 4 outsells Gears 4, it'll only be because of the 1:2 console ratio. As it stands, Gears has sold more and thus is more popular than Uncharted. Facts, Numbers don't lie.

23 million to 21 million

Gears is more popular, deal with it.

Uncharted 3 sold more than Gears 3 with a lower install base so drop that excuse. Also provide me a link showing 23 million.

Gears is at 22 million over 4 games(Judgment was included in that total) while Uncharted is at 21 million with 3 games(Vita game was not included in the totals).

Safe to say Uncharted Collection will outsell Gears Ultimate later this year as well.

Face it Uncharted passed Gears in popularity. Deal with it.

You're really disregarding the 1:2 ratio?

Gears was at 22 million at the beginning of 2014, no doubt it's at least a million more.

Uncharted Vita sold like 1 million more, that makes it 22 million. Gears has sold more and you're telling us to use simple math.

@cinematicgalore: THey're two totally different games...

Not really all that much. They are in the exact same genre and have very similar gameplay mechanics

Gears doesn't focus on stories, or set pieces. If you would compare Tomb Raider and Uncharted that would make more sense

LOL oh really? Did you watch the Gears 4 demo?

Loading Video...

The entire thing is one big scripted even set piece demonstration that is also linear as hell. It's just one linear scripted set piece after another. Any argument by lems about set pieces, scripted events and linear gameplay is going to fail when comparing Gears 4 to Uncharted 4.

You should compare Gears 4's reveal footage with Uncharted 4's reveal footage. Oh wait, you can't because Uncharted 4's was a CGI trailer with false promises of 60fps and unreal fidelity. You should commend The Coalition for showing gameplay instead of a CGI trailer like Naughty Frauds.

Lot of fanboyism in this thread, so lets be honest for a while. GeoW 1 was a better game than Uncharted 1. Since then, every Uncharted game was better. GeoW series never even got close to the quality of UC2 alone. Fact.

lol, Gears 3 was better than UC3. It's common consensus that UC3 was disappointing.

Context and one less mechanic doesn't change the fact that they are both cover based third person shooters with linear environments, and a whole lot of set pieces.

Just because one has a train and the other has a worm, doesn't change the fact that they are in the same genre. That's valuing superficial shit over things that are actually fundamental at the core of the games. They are absolutely comparable, one just happens to be a bit more pure as a tps, the other tries to mask its shooting by pacing itself via platforming segments and puzzles for 3 year olds.

Yeah, Gears is pure TPS at its finest. Uncharted is mediocre at everything but somehow turns into a "jack of all trades" because it tries more things, disregarding it fails at all of them.

I don't know about at its finest, it's good core mechanics that come off strong in multiplayer. But the single player started strong with Gears 1 for its pacing, but hasn't evolved in cool ways. 2 became more bombastic and scattershot, albeit with better enemy variety, and the 2nd half of Gears 3 is a painful fucking slog through mundane shit after mundane shit.

in contrast Resident Evil 4 had more gameplay ideas in one game than the Gears Trilogyu (and the Uncharted trilogy ) had in their entire run. Max Payne 1,2, and 3 have better gunplay, and Vanquish makes both of those games feel old, stale, and slow. Less meatier shooting, but better fluidity in the movement department. Hell Binary Domain does more in the campaign department than Gears does.

That said I don't think Uncharted 2 fails all that often poor puzzles aside. The gunplay was good for what it was, it was, quick, it was snappy, the guns had reasonable feedback since the enemies actually sell the shots. The pacing was on point all the way up until the lost city shit with the purple things, it was mostly varied in its set pieces, you are more active participant in Uncharted 2's set pieces as opposed to the duller set pieces of Uncharted 3 or Gears 2 for instance. So I disagree with both of you.

But at least the quality of the games is up to an opinion on some level, acting like they aren't in the same genre is ignoring facts.

That lumbering, heavy feel is trademark of Gears (more of a pro than a con imo), only use it against Uncharted because it's actually going for quick gameplay. Curious, what would you rate both the series?

Not according to critics or people who play the games of the series...

Superficial games get good ratings, what can I say? Look at COD.

COD also does shooting better than Uncharted.

Unity was a complete mess on PS4 at launch and now The Witcher 3 has a ridiculous design decision that locks the framerate at 20fps when any effects are going on. I don't think it is a conspiracy that the version with marketing deal get more attention than the others do. And I do think devs spend more time trying to make the Xbox One version acceptable.

Paranoid.
