You can tell that wasn't a professionally written review. First, the review embargo hasn't been lifted yet, and second, the review was poorly written with numerous grammar errors. Most likely a small fan site trying to gain readers by posting the first Black ops review. They say the campaign is good but not great, the levels are made for camping, and people who didn't like World At War would feel the same way about Black ops. Then they give a list of cons that is more than double the list of pros, but still call it revolutionary and give it a 9.5.
Gamespot posted shortly after the launch of Reach that some 360 slim users were having techical problems with the game. If your not experiencing problems with other games, don't worry.

You said you changed the setting to HDMI, but did you change the resolution? Hook it up to your tv and change the resolution to either 480 or 720p, and then hook it back to your computer monitor. to be honest, It sounds like your monitor doesn't have HDCP support. I bought a LG monitor a while back that claimed to have have it but didn't. Turns out there was two versions of the same monitor, one with it and one without it.
