My reasons why this will not fail.

1- There are plenty of old school gamers out there.

2-Original Duke nukem , Doom, Quake , Goldeneye , perfect dark Owns the **** out of these pansy wattered down shooters of today

3-We Have been waiting a very long time to kick ass and chew bubblegum again.

4-Were all out of bubblegum.

[QUOTE="naomha1"][QUOTE="Mmaguy"]I'm looking for a new rpg to play. Played Fallout 3, Oblivion, Dragon age, The wticher, Mass Effect, blah blah, you know, all the popular games you would expect a huge RPG fan to play and beat. I don't like JRPGs (the ones with an anime/cartoon style, can't stand them), an example of of cartoon/anime is valkyria chronicles. Please don't offer games like that cause I just plain out can't get into them. Torchlight definately or Vindictus good action RPG MMO though completely free I don't care what platform it's for, so long as it's not olddddddd. Like 5 years ago I can accept. Thanks guys.

Also try Torchlight, Loki and the Spellforce and Spellforce 2 series. Good games all of them.

ALL i want to say on this is atually WoW related. WoW for me has not been good since Pre BC nowadays u don't know a skilled player from a crappy casual as over time the game has become a watered down version of itself after TBC mainly since Wrath hit I quit now just about a year ago. Now as for the new FF MMO in my opinion reviews for newly released MMO's are completely irrelevant at the beginning as they have jsut come out there will be humongous changes to come and square enix even states this that the fans input matters greatly to them and that what they want out of there experience they will do everything in there power to give them. WoW might be the most successful at the moment but take into consideration that upon early release it was extremely broken as 99% of MMO's are at release. Everything takes time people just have to hang in there and be patient.

Another thing that i was baffled with was That the combat training mode in the game requires u to be online to access it many of the non xbox live users would have been drawn to black ops if this were accessible offline. Also Wager matches i do like this and it was my whole reason behind picking up Black ops personally i think Treyarch has taken more leaps of faith with COD games as opposed to the gameplay and mechanics with htis mode and the addition of zombies in world at war and black ops. Pretty much all infinity ward did was introduce call of duty into the modern era of warfare but little else in innovation as far as gameplay went.

I think Game publishers should do a survey every time they go to make a new game to see what additions most of there fan base would like to see , it would be nice if the fans voice and opinions were taken into consideration more as we all are the heart of gaming. :)

I hold games to very high standards most of the time but i do give credit even when something fails as long as they put innovation into the mix and i continue to suppourt titles that i like even when a new direction doesnt go well ,I like when they have the Balls to try anyway.

[QUOTE=Tropictrain] Removing guns from COD could be interesting. Heck, they added zombies to it, which I find even stranger. lol But the point you bring up is the exact reason developers are afraid to change a series. To you, exploration is the hallmark of a Final Fantasy. And they took that out, and now you're upset. But what if a developer changes something in COD that someone felt was crucial to the game? They'd risk losing fans. When Wind Waker was first announced, just the graphics alone caused an outcry. And then there was the fact it was on the ocean and you're in a boat. Searching these forums, I'm constantly seeing gamers want this series and that to return to its roots because they don't like what they did to the series. So I don't blame companies for being afraid to change something.

I would just like to see COD mix it up some even if it were as much as adding explodable enviornements similar to what BF bad company has little improvements liek that.It doesnt have to be game changing major things but most any fan of a FPS would enjoy such little things like that i do very much like and support the new customiztion that black Ops has brought but still the gameplay itself suffers from the little annoyances that have been around for a long time and have not been addressed. Also with the COD campaigns and how they are so short if companies are affraid to change things in multiplayer they should at least beef up there campains 6-8 hours to finish the campaign is weak however u look at it.

with a campaign that short what motivates any gamer that doesnt play on xbox live to buy such a title , To beef up there campaigns and add depth would surely be a win win scenario as there are gamers out there who dont play multiplayer but still enjoy gaming when single player brings things to the table with some replayability.

Xbox live arcade, Playstation network, Steam, and Wiiware all have terrific innovative and fresh games.

Braid, Limbo, Minecraft, Geometry Wars, Trine, the pixeljunk games, and amy others. Plus Iphone games that cost 99 cents.

And they are many orignial games out there: Angry Birds(IP), Rolando (IP), LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain, Boom Blox, and many others.

Some games seem shallow while other games seem very deep. Be better at picking your games. I just bought ARMA 2 Combined Operations. I can see this game is going to keep me very busy (possibly all the way to my next PC after the one in my sig), what with the campaigns and the editor. The editor especially. I'm downright delighted with it. This game is deep, very deep like flight sim deep.

Arma is very good yes. I love it very enjoyable and deep game ;)

Crisis was very good for me too anything like that which includes an editor i find myself easily hooked on .

[QUOTE="Tropictrain" And I do find it ironic that you bashed COD for not changing, and then turn around and bash Final Fantasy because it changed.

I didn't mean that in a way to bash Final fantasy if you check out my profile i still gave the game a 9.5 rating as the story was great and i loved the characters . I just think along with many other fans that a final fantasy soo linear with near no exploration is a bad route for square enix to build upon for future final fantasy games as it heads toward that cookie cutter copy/paste routine that i spoke of in my post before. Its nice for Square Enix to head a new direction and try new things i absolutely loved the dissidia game for psp that was a nice new direction with an action arcade fighting game .But i am just displeased that they headed toward that road of The lazy/easy cash cow route i like to call itwith the first next gen final fantasy.

removing exploartion from Final fantasy for me is like removing Guns from the COD series where would that leave it ?
