I found number 35 and 95 to be quite funny.
Enjoy.
Alright, I don't like asking for tips on OT (and since I know next to NOTHING about music), but I need to find a song (anything, just not explicit) that coincides with a character/theme of the book "The Great Gatsby." The theme is the death of the American Dream and decadence, and a major symbol in the book are the eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg (just two eyes on a billboard) which symbolise if God is watching us or if he left us. For those who don't know what that book is, it is about
a man named Nick who befriends a crazy-rich (like Bill Gates rich) man named Gatsby. Gatsby is deeply, deeply in love with this other lady named Daisy whom he tracks down to NYC after he returns from WW1.
They both loved each other, but she couldn't marry him because he was very poor so she married a very rich man (whom she loved at the time). In NYC, Gatsby wants Nick to set him up with Daisy (he is VERY desperate) because Nick is a mutual friend.
He does that, but Daisy learns that Gatsby's wealth has accumulated from illegal gang activites (like bootlegging, etc. think mafia stuff), so she chooses to stay with her current husband (who is an emotionally abusive jerk who is cheating on her). Gatsby is distraught since his sole motivation to live was to be with Daisy and now he can't have her. At the end of the book, he is framed (by Daisy's husband) for a murder and is shot.
The theme is decadence, the death of the American Dream, and a major symbol in the book is the eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleberg (they are just two eyes on a billboard) which symbolise if God can see everything or if he left us.
