That would be awesome and it's completely possible. there was a ssb for N64 and N64 games can fit on a ds game card with heaps of space left over. They Did Metroid Prime and that was even on gamecube so it is definately possible and i would also say it's an idea Nintendo has probably already come up with.
To be honest i think it is irresponsibility when one of them broke but bad luck when you got a dud. ihave an old version DS and i have had it for about 3 years. I'm not crazily careful with it and it still works fine, it hasn't screwed up once. i have only ever lost one stylus and the screens are a bit scratched. Nintendo builds their stuff really well to a good quality. they are HARD to break.
As much as i hope and dream that there will be a halo ds, i think that the practicality side of it would be kind of hard to deal with. To use a previously stated example, Kingdom hearts was a great ps2 game, but theGBAversion was not nearly of the same quality. Burnout is a great game for XBOX and PS2 but it is terrible on DS comparitively. if they did put HALO on DS, they would have to either make the campaign awfully short, or make the graphics bad for a DS standard.
An excellent idea and a good concept: We can only hope they find a way to make it fit the platform.
