Warcraft III. They streamlined the hell out of that game. For example, a lot of units have auto-casting for their abilities. You also never really have a gigantic army. It also has one of the better stories as far as RTS games go. If I'm not mistaken the campaign also has different difficulty settings.

As much as I love Starcraft I actually would not recommend that to start off, partially because the controls are so antiquated to some degree.

I'd say this or wait a couple months for starcraft 2

Here is bungie's new system:

"Arena Playlists - Possibly the largest change coming in Halo: Reach is the Arena. This is a Slayer and Team Slayer set of playlists entirely geared toward the hardcore. If that wasn't enough, players will be rated and placed into skill divisions in month-long seasons.

The rating system is smart enough to realize that kills aren't the only determining factor behind skill. This is especially true for team games where assists play a huge roll. Similarly, players that have a greater kill/death ratio (had more kills than deaths) will rank higher than players that die as much as they kill.

The divisions are Onyx, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Steel. It is possible to move up or down within a single season. To qualify for ranking, players will have to play a certain number of games a day to gain a "Daily Ranking", which will be an average of a player's best games from the day. To get a divisional ranking and compete in a season, players will need a certain number of Daily Rankings."

Here is Blizzard's which has been advertised since Blizzcon 2009.

Blizzard's Competitive Arena for everyone

"One of the biggest improvements that the new Battle.net service brings to StarCraft II is smarter and more accurate matchmaking. While the legacy Battle.net service had good matchmaking, the standard experience for new players was usually a series of crushing defeats against seasoned Battle.net veterans until they either left or developed the skills necessary to thrive in Battle.net's competitive environment.

The new Battle.net matchmaking service will measure player skill more accurately than ever before, making online competitive play more accessible for a wider audience. What's more, we are introducing an all-new Battle.net Leagues and Ladders System to the service. After using the auto-matchmaking system a few times, Battle.net will automatically slot you into a league and division that best suits your skill level. Our goal here is to encourage local competition by finding you a neighborhood of 100 players of equal skill against whom you will be ranked. This will make ranked online play much more enjoyable and give everyone a realistic chance to win their division"

"The initial Ranking system is divided like this: Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Pro rankings"

Sound Similar? It seems to me that Bungie has blatantly copied their system

so I'm new to excell and I have over 400 entries to analyze. I'm trying to figure out a way to split the groups in different demographics rather than the manual control and paste. For instance, I want to split up men and women who were surveyed..how do I do this?

Well just to begin...

The other guys don't care about your opinion. Xbox lovers love Xbox, PC players love PC. PS3 loves PS3. Some love both...or all? Sure, you're going to have some guys agree with you, but why does it really matter? "Omg! This random internet guy agrees with me that Xbox 360 has the best exclusives!!" Who cares! Just go play!

The companies don't care! Sure these companies may entertain you but they're always thinking up ways to get you to give them more money! Is that what a good friend would do? I really don't care if you want to give your hard earned money to these companies but maybe you should spend less of your day worrying about their profit margins and go do something productive!

At the end of the day, the Beatles are better than Led Zeplin. At the end of the day, Led Zeplin is better than the Beatles. At the end of the day they both suck. These are called opinions. People need to be more empathetic and seek to understand other peoples opinions. Just because people think differently than you doesn't mean they're wrong. Common folks!

End Note: A system war? A war between people arguing over which system is better? Which product is better? Truly, this is the most pointless waste of time ever. Go enjoy playing games and quit trying to prove what you're doing is the best experience. ENJOY DA GAMES!

  • Redicolous International Fan Base
  • A Winning formula of RTS
  • Slight tweaks and offcourse vast improvement graphics
  • 12 years since release of original
  • A "If not broken, don't fix approach" (which I like)
  • Not dumming down itself like other RTS by going to console.

Will be a Success. Should be the Biggest selling PC game this year. Game wise, they not changing what made it great and they have not made the game stale like what was done with C&C games.

jedikevin2

Also, extremely innovative and immersive campaign mode.

One bad company trying to copy another (which, it must be said, copied off of everyone else to begin with)...yeah, color me unimpressed.

-wildflower-

I find it ironic that you criticise these companies for copying, yet your cynical "too cool for the mainstream" attitude is not original by any means either.
