Hola all! So yesterday I took the day off(my school gives one day not counted as an absence for college visits) and went to "Carolina Close Up". Basically, I was invited to an event at the University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill with transportation. I got up way early and caught a van with a few other people from my area. Once there, they took us to the fanciest building on campus(like we wouldn't realize that he rest of the campus isn't as nice:P), the Alumni Center and gave us a really nice brunch. They had a Q&A session with a panel of four professors and four students about admissions and academics- totally boring and about a bunch of stuff i already knew. Then we went to lunch at the Ramshead(if you ever go to chapel hill, eat there. apparently, it's the best place to eat on campus.), which was also paid for. Then we went back for another hour speech on study abroad, research, and student life(by the student body president). also boring. then they let us go talk to the study abroad people, students who had conducted research projects, and club representatives. They gave us a bit too much time for that, but it was interesting. Found out a bit about study abroad, and did something I'm kinda proud of. This is about to get personal and serious, so be warned.
they had about fifteen clubs(of 600, hmmm) represented. I talked to the Habitat for Humanity person, the student government and student ambassador reps, and to the GLBTQS rep. That is what made me proud of myself because, I've never really came out(except just now i guess:roll:, and to a few friends), and in a room full of strangers I just went and talked to the rep. Very public. Anyway, i'm probably being totally dramatic, and corny and stupid, but whatever.
So the day was good, especially since we ended it with a improv show. This group, CHiPS, performed. it was hilarious. I almost died, my cheeks hurt and I was crying, it was so funny. We definitely should have done that all day. Anyway, sorry for my seriousness, and the long rambling post.
