If the company produced a profit from the game then it was a success, it's only a flop if they break even or end up in the red. Just googling Persona 5 sales comes up with a plethora of positive article stating how well the game sold. If you're trying to justify it will never be a mainstream multi million cod/FF seller then yes, it will never achieve those numbers. Another thing to realize is a persona game will never have the crazy budget of those games because Atlus realizes they're not going to make the money back.

Atlus are even celebrating their successful launch by releasing a bunch of free limited time DLC ahead of schedule, so its likely they made a profit, which will only become greater through localization. If this game was truly a flop Atlus would try to recoup as much profit they can immediately vs offering free addons.

Depends on how much time I can get out of it. An RPG like FF,Tales of, Persona, Fallout I can easily sink anywhere from 30-200 hours on, so that's worth it. Mainly if I'm going to pay 80 bucks for a game I better get at least 20 solid hours of fun game play and a decent story. I will make a few exceptions such as Last of Us, which is a shorter game, but masterfully constructed.

Xenosaga trilogy: My favorite game/series. Everything from the world, sophistication and intellect of the story/characters intoxicated me into loving this series.

Dot hack/G.U: Wish cyber connect would go back to this instead of all the sword art online games.

Shadow hearts 1,2: Played from the new world and loved it, but never got to play the first 2.

Wild arms 5: Was either persona 3 or Wild Arms 5. I bought P3 and never saw this game again.

Devil May Cry 3: Best game in the series wouldn't mind playing again

Radiata Story: Another JRPG gem I missed and would love the opportunity to play.

I bought 2 controllers to get around the battery life issue. Before that though I was using a USB extender cord that connected into my PS4 charge wire. It virtually worked as a wired controller adding like 6-10 feet to the abysmally small PS4 charging wire. I got it for like 11 bucks.

The analog stick wear has also been an issue for me on the PS4 controller that came with my console. Sure it's annoying, but the controller still works, so I'll live with it. I've been looking at the rubber cup things that go over the analog sticks as a quick fix they seem cheap enough, but not so sure on how comfortable they will be.

@lamprey263 AC was the first thing that came to my mind as well, and I especially agree with that art design felt somewhat mundane and similar as the series moved forward. The story also lost cohesion when Desmond was no longer in the series, thus leaving itself with a cool idea, but no real direction on how to give it form. Still, I look forward to the next game because the series still shows a lot of promise and room to grow.

L.A. Noire also gets a firm nod as well. I would also like to say Dishonored but that's more of a game with an historical feel (Victorian London during the black plague) vs an historical setting I suppose.

Red Dead Redemption is an interesting sandbox wild west game that had a beautiful world and cool game play aspects(slowed down bullet time).

Fallout 3,4, new Vegas: A very interesting what if the world plunged into utter nuclear destruction during the 1950's. The futuristic world and especially the music build a very strong post 1950's history/future timeline.

Growing up on ps1/ps2 I grew a custom to getting more of a game for less, getting what felt like a full experience from beginning to end in most cases. Back then games cost considerably less to make thus they had a bigger margin for profit, but now games are multi million dollar undertakings, which sometimes need to factor in paid dlc to their profit margins.

To answer the question I prefer a sizable game leaving me full;Rather than a bite sized snack leaving me hungry for the next expansion sized snack. A publisher should always try to ship a full experience and then build upon that experience with a sequel or an expansion of substance. I feel far to many games today focus on creating a base game and future DLC simultaneously, instead of focusing on creating the full game by itself first.

I would have to say FFVII Crisis Core would be my favorite, but Valkyira Chronicles II comes in a close second.

I think it will do fairly well, but it depends on a few variables. The price was a big variable and Sony hit the sweet spot at 399.99. I don't see many people upgrading unless they have a 4ktv. I can see places like Gamestop offering deals to trade in your PS4 towards a pro to entice people with a 4ktv that wants to better utilize their tv/console symbiosis.

Another big variable is the success of the Sony VR. If it's a sizable difference playing on the pro, I can see people buying/upgrading to get the most out of the VR experience.
