I'm planning on building a 6 core computer using the AMD Phenom II 6 core CPU, video cards, 1tb drive....

My main purpose is mostly application development with photoshop ui designing. This designing will include me creating animation using Adobe After Effects with some Video Editing for hobby (minor).

I was thinking of water cooling to help keep my system cool, but I"m wondering if I will ever need it? I have a quad core with jsut fans, it runs 24/7 and hasn't hiccuped on me, but that systme is a HTPC. What are your thoughs on water cooling versus fan cooling? Should I invest in water cooling so I can potentially cool all my hardware?

Thanks!

If you have your heart set on water cooling, go with a Corsair H50 - H70. Its not a true water cooling systerm more of a top of the line CPU sink, however its technically considered "water cooling". It works extremely well though, especially for OC'ing and the H50 onlys ~$80

Thanks for the input guys, I think I will keep it. I do love it, and I think I just got caught up in the moment of wanting to buy new stuff. On another note, the build I have selected has a 6950, so it does have a DisplayPort, however, this screen in MiniDisplayPort so I would need an adapter. No use though as I already have the MiniDP to DVI. =)

I currently have a ACD 24" LED backlit display IPS panel display. I'm in the process of now building a gaming PC. I was curious as the whether it would be worth me selling this for $550-600 and using the money on another screen that has more connectivity options. I do have the adapter for my ACD that allows me to go form Mini Displayport > DVI. I was just curious as if I should keep this screen as it is a nice IPS panel, or if I should sell it buy another screen and put extra money towards other upgrades?

What are some monitors that rival this? Prices?

Ok, just updated my cart with the 3 new items. Got a 2500K i5, 750W Silverstone modular PSU, and a SAPPHIRE 100312-1GSR Radeon HD 6950 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready GPU. Updated subtotal, $1,034. Good? Will this build play most current games on high settings? Since this will be my first build, I'm sure I'll eventually get into OC'ing my CPU in which I'll probably also pick up a Corsair H50, or H70 to cool it.

Win 7 64 bit, 24" Apple Cinema Display that I currently use for my MBP and my current PC, and I have a Western Digital HDD. Whats the difference between a regular PSU and modular PSU, shape? And does the 2500k compare well to the 2600k in gaming?

Btw, thanks for the quick input! =)

Well here is my first build I will be ordering in a few weeks, comments on compatibilities and changes please.

Like I said I'm new to this, but I have general ideas. This build will be used pretty much for gaming, I don't do video editing, music editing, or any of that stuff. I know there is no HDD, OS, keyboard, monitor etc..I have all of them already.

So here's my build and I will highly appreciate comments.
