There was a time when consoles unquestionably ruled the gaming world. They were cheap, consistent and lasted for 10+ years in terms of longevity. As a PC gamer, I always hated having to upgrade my expensively assembled PC's every 3 years to be able to play new games where my friends played on their consoles with no problem - at a fraction of the price. Add this to the fact that consoles had far more games and no issues with software-hardware compatibility. So I gave in and bought a Xbox 360 to be able to play all those Red Dead Redemptions and rented a PS4 to play Last of Us games of our time - for the first time in my life. And frankly I was amazed by how good these consoles were.
But the times have changed. Xbox One and PS4 are, in essence, stripped down high end PC's. Just one year after their releases they are ousted by mediocre gaming PC's and I have question marks over their longevity. Almost every game that comes out on these consoles comes out for PC's as well these days, with a few exclusives here and there especially for Sony. Like it or not, the victory is shifting towards PC gaming. I bought an Xbox One on the day it was released but it has been pretty much gathering dust in my living room since I
Which brings me to my point. Wii U. To me this console is exactly the console that PC's can't be. Not just because of the exclusives like Bayonetta and Mario but for the type of experience Nintendo has been giving us for about *looks at watch* 30 years. To me, Wii U, with all its annoyances and documented issues, is the next generation console. It hurts me that they aren't doing well but I would not think twice about choosing one over XOne or PS4. Maybe this Christmas?
