I was half-hearted to whether to buy this game or not, being a massive SimCity fan since SimCity 2000. Having played the beta however, and knowing the type of company EA are, I certainly won't ever buy this title due to mandatory online play. Here's hoping one of these pirates make an offline version but I won't get my hopes up regarding that either because half of the game's calculations run on EA/Maxis servers with only a small proportion of the coding, and the overall engine on your hard drive.
Simply put, a missed opportunity for EA to resurrect SimCity after a very poor Societies. But this ain't going to happen.
@bloody-hell Well said. I used to love SimCity but this title is atrocious. This is not the way to fix videogame piracy. Include loads of fun and exciting features online for people and encourage them to buy the game. No one wants to buy a game which forces you to go online. It means you never OWN a game despite having paid so much for it, because, in a few years time, when the servers are shut down, Origin is outplaced by another software and EA are broke (a possibility), you will NEVER be able to play the game. A game you've already paid for...
