Mmm, Spammm

Been thinking, I'm sure a lot of us have had a lot of forum experience, and have dealt with a lot of spambots, so let's send up a list of the worst you've dealt with outside of tv.com, and a link to their post counts, or at least their most spam-licious.

One of my two choices recently won the Biggest n00b and Best spam thread award over at ToonZone, and his name is owner2637. When he started out, he seemed like a decent enough hardcore Ed, Edd, n' Eddy fan, which we all should be, right? But as he went along, he just got more and more random, doing everything from blaming all of his many problems on a barely there Super Sonic to trying to break up TZ's most notorious couple to trying to e-punch us in the e-gutters of the e-streets.

Since being banned TWICE, on the same account, no less, he returned as Bad Wolf and Daniel3422 , to little avail. The kid also as hosted two boards, which are both just disgraces, one of which can be seen here, at your own peril. http://srenfropublicboards.5forum.info/index.htm

My second choice, from RetroJunk, is so many kinds of disturbing, I couldn't even begin to describe him. Instead, read PizzaFace's file on his own, if you're able to. If you want to read some true spam, I'd say it's required you sign up to RJ.

Bring me the spam!

Am I seriously reading this?

The Genealogy of Mario: As Explained to me by Japanese 6-year-olds

Now Wondering - Where Toad Fits In

by Vinnk - 02.18.08

Other than writing for 4cr I have a full time job as an English teacher. This year I switched to teaching elementary school. The kids are great but it is an exhausting job. Anyway, recently I decided to do a lesson about family structure. To teach English words like Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, etc.

As with a lot of lessons I do with first graders, I have to make it as interesting as possible or I can't hold their attention for more than about 7 seconds. Kids this age love video games. Especially Mario games, so when teaching the word "brother" I decided to use a word they already know from the game "Super Mario Brothers". However as it turned out, the one who got the lesson was me. Here's what happened:

(This was almost all in Japanese, but I'll writing it in English here)

Me: Here is a good way for you to remember the word for "brother". Finish this phrase: "Super Mario _______" (wait for response)

Energetic boy: Galaxy!

Me: Ok, it's a bit different.. try again, "Super Mario _____"

Girl: Party?

Me: One more try. "Super Mario ______"

Boy: I got it! Brothers!

Me: Good. That's right. The word is "brother". So who is Mario's brother?

Boy in the back: Wario!

Me: Is he?

Boy: Yes!

Me: Ok, well.. Does Mario have another brother?

Different boy: Waluigi!

Me: He's Mario's brother too?

(Students discuss this among themselves and eventually decide)

Boy: No, only Wario.

Me: OK. But I think he has another brother.

Girl: Luigi!

Me: Yes! Luigi is Mario's Bro..

Excited boy who interrupted me: Peach!

Me: Peach? Peach is Mario's brother?

Girl: Of course not! Peach is Mario's sister!

Me: Oh sorry..

Girl: It's ok.

Me: Who else is in Mario's family?

Boy: Koopa! ("Bowser" in the English versions)

Me: He is? Is he Mario's brother too?

Same boy: No, he's Mario's father.

Other boy: He's not!

Girl: Maybe an uncle?

Boy: Mini-Koopa is Koopa's son.

Me: Anyway, back to Mario and Luigi. What was the word I want you to remember?

Boy: Oni-chan (the Japanese word for "older brother")

Me: In English it's "Older Brother". Who is older, Mario or Luigi?

Girl: Luigi.

Me: Luigi? Why?

Girl: He's taller.

I can't argue with that logic. However I am a bit troubled by some of these revelations. According to my students, I learned the following:

1. Mini Koopa is Mario's brother, stepbrother or cousin.
2. How height of someone is directly proportional to how old they are.
3. Mario's father (or uncle) often kidnaps his own daughter (or niece).
4. It is up to Mario to constantly defeat his father (or uncle) to win the love of his sister.
5. Mario is possibly romantically involved with his sister.
6. Mario has an evil brother.
7. No one knows who Waluigi is, but he hangs out with the family at most parties.

And they say Nintendo games are kiddy. Sounds pretty mature to me."

Really? Discuss.

Music- What Defines The Perfect Song For You?

Recently I've started a new feature on my sig, Song of the Week, in which I present to you a song I adore every week, and anticipate your results. My first is Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" from their album of the same name, as seen here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXdNnw99-Ic) Putting it up got me think last night, I love my music (metal/old-school rock/punk/various other acts), and I take it very seriously. Lately I've been thinking about what makes a great song, so why not try out some of what I consider to be among the finest in the music world on you guys to see what does? So for the next, well, as long as I feel necessary, I'll try out various songs on you guys.

But, of course, one man's treasure is another man's trash, so I might as well ask you all what kind of music do you listen to, and what would you consider to be lyrical perfection.

In other news, the deleted scene to "Take This Ed and Shove It" that was shown alongside the Ed, Edd, n' Eddy booth at this year's Comic-Con that I couldn't attend is finally on YouTube. For you viewing delights. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI6TBDps1VA&feature=related)

Nameless Blog

And no, I'm not referring to that little troll, but I am offering you all this:

It's been a while since I've made a new blog, so I thought I should offer one up to you, even if nothing's happened to me lately interesting enough to discuss, but then again,I'm always up to learn more about my numerous friends on the site and vice versa, so just use this blog to ask me anything you want to know, or tell me anything new happening to you all.

I wish I could add more, but I... Don't think I can.

New Blog: Animation Goes Down Two... Decades

Been a while, but that doesn't mean i wasn't thinking about you all. I wanted to do a post-Holiday blog, but didn't have the zeal to go with it. Also wanted to discuss the fall of my anime club at school, but my sister shut my cputer off while taking a break from it, and didn't feel like restarting the bog, so I'll mention what's going down at a later point. But, I thought, since you all know of my love for animation,I thought I'd bring out this interesting little topic about a certain "new" series that'll peak your interest and give you tons of witty comments in your mind and on my comments as well. To spare time and space and get on to the point, I'll just bring up what matters.

"NBC announced they're ordering an unspecified number of additional episodes of "American Gladiators" from producers MGM and Reveille on Monday, but the renewal is just the start of extensions planned for the competition show.

Original "Gladiators" series owner MGM intends to announce a broadband Web site stocked with new and classic content based on the syndicated version of the show, as well as plans for a "Gladiators" animated series. MGM, Reveille and NBC-who collectively own the new series-are planning a nationwide tour a la "American Idol" to find the next crop of "Gladiators" contestants."

Yes, that's right. American Gladiators. The Animated Series. Welcome to the early 90's. I'm just disgusted at how far back we've gone here, and hope this crashes and burns.

So, discuss the new series and whatever.

Happy Holidays, Plus Some Stuff

Now, if you've been on the computer, if you've watched TV or listened to the radio, and if you've talked to any gabbers in the past 2 days, you'd know that Jamie Lynn Spears, Brittany's slightly-more-talented sister, is pregnant. Now I'm sure you all may have heard a variety of things here, but here's what I have to say, and I'll make it brief: My condolence's to the Spears family now, for not only Jamie Lynn but Brittany's antics as well.

Now, yesterday, I skipped school to go with my family to Orlando to get what little we're getting for Christmas over with.(all my sister really cares about is clothes, and all I want is a LAN adapter so I can play online with my Wii) Now while my sister and her friend Lauren went to Millienia to eat before they went shopping(probably the 8th time we've went this year, lol.), my mother and I went to Ikea, a really impressive furniture store. It's from Sweden, and there's only like 10 in the world, and it just looks awesome. Two stories, and dozens of thousands of features, with cheap prices.(like $2 for a set of 50 napkins. I'm not a napkin expert, but that seems impressive), and everything looks like a million-dollar house's best room would. The place even has 2(!) restaurants in there. I had an open-face(Hey, PW, remember that guy?) shrimp and egg sandwich(which wasn't very good) with a blueberry cheesecake(which was pretty good), as well as tried Lignenberry(sp?) juice(which tasted pretty well, too.). The palce has drawbacks, as well. According to my mom, when you use the bathroom, a sign proclaims "For liquid material, press up. For solid material, press down", and to add to that, to get a bag for your stuff, you better pony up a nickel. But, overall, if you're into Swedish furniture and stuff like that, you'll want to see if you have an Ikea where you live.

Now at Millienia, well, my sister and her friend got a lot of stuff at Bloomingdales, and I got S1 of King of the Hill at FYI for $15 bucks. Then, it took us nearly an hour to get to the Florida mall, due to insane traffic(a LOT of people apparently wanted to go to Walmart. Probably to avoid my sister singing Brit's" On the Radar"). Now, the Florida Mall is probably 3x the size of Millenia, and it shows, as every store here is at least double the size of theirMillenia counterparts. Now here, my sis got a bunch of crap at Sakks, and I finally found Death's classic Symbolic, as well as ogled at S2, V1 of Gargoyles, which is so expensive that I'm not even bothering asking for.

So, what are your holiday plans? Your wishlist? What are you planning or wanting to help make this a great year? Share here, and don't forget to come back to share your holiday escapades.

Guilty Pleasure Central(Make It Rock!)

New blog post, as I've started to get a tad nostalgic, so I wondered, is there any TV show you outright love but would never tell anyone in real life? For me, the best example of that is, get this, The O.C.. Hey, the show is really different from the spoiled, preppy, 90210-vein of primetime soap operas, and I love the snark. I would of never gotten in to it if it wasn't for my sister watching a random episode at a friends house one day, and the next, while the family and I were at Sams, found the first season for $20, and just went out and bought it. By next week, she became addicted. So much so, she had me watch the show for myself, and I became a big fan of it, as well. Odd now, two years ago she'd never touch the TV unless there was a dance orcheerleading competition and now she's hooked on various shows like this, One Tree Hill, America's Next Top Model, and Gossip Girl.(all of which= ick!)

Now, as for a show I love but would never admit to on here, I have this odd thing for Hannah Montana(and I probably just lost all of your respect right now). I find it odd why I do, especially considering the fact that my music library consists of bands like No Ca$h, Leftover Crack, Cannibal Corpse, and Lamb of God. But, there's just something about that wig(and herself, and more importantly,Emily, :D) that keeps me coming back. To my surprise on Tuesday, I discovered that my sister started putting the show on her series tracker list on the DVR, and, of all surprises, she's addicted to both the show, and her music. I'm loving this chance to spend more time with my sister watching the show, which normally isn't of her taste. Oh, and to add insult to injury, I can't get enough of My Gym Partner's A Monkey and call it the true successor to my beloved Rocko's Modern Life.

As for other news, eh, not much else, really.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention, I finally caught both AD"s "Hairy Christmas" episode, which I thought was a brilliant idea, well executed, and quite possibly a future Christmas tradition, as well as DP's "The Fright Before Christmas", which, although heart-felt, felt too contrived towards using the cliched "Night Before Christmas" tribute.

The Access Code Is... Alone

The only cartoon-related part of the blog is to those who guess where thisquote comes from.

Well, it's been a week since Courtney and I went our seperate ways. She thought that we'd be better off as firends, for some ungodly reason, and for this past week, maybe aside from when Juiileanne left me or my grandmother's death, I've yet to feel much worse. I've tried to cope by, but with this damn virus, it's just so hard to get a grip. She was just so great for me, but... I don't know. Oh, and Jenni, her and Sam were pretty different(ie, she's not a self-rightous vegetarion).

The reason I did this today, the fourth, is to give a special shout-out to two very important decased members of the music industry. One, John Lennon the great(heh, got to see "Meat the Beat Alls" again today.), and the wonderful Dimebag Darell. Rest in piece, man. I'm off.

Reverend, reverend,
Is this a conspiracy?
Crucified for no sins
No revenge... beneath me.
Lost within my plans for life,
It all seems so unreal.
Im a man cut in half in this world,
Left in my misery.

The reverend he turned to me
Without a tear in his eyes.
Its nothing new for him to see,
I didnt ask him why.
I will remember...
The love our souls had sworn to make.
Now I watch the falling rain
All my mind can see now is your (face).

Well I guess
You took my youth
And gave it all away.
Like the birth of a new found joy,
This love would end in rage...
And when she died
I couldnt cry,
The pride within my soul.
You left me incomplete
All alone as the memories now unfold.

Believe the word.
I will unlock my door...
And pass the cemetery gates.

Sometimes when Im alone,
I wonder aloud,
If youre watching over me
Some place far abound.
I must reverse my life
I cant live in the past.
Then set my soul free,
Belong to me at last.

Through all those complex years
I thought I was alone.
I didnt care to look around
And make this world my own...
And when she died
I shouldve cried and spared myself some pain.
You left me incomplete,
All alone as the memories still remain.

The way we were,
The chance to save my soul...
And my concern is now in vain.
Believe the word,
I will unlock my door...
And pass the cemetery... gates

The way we were,
The chance to save my soul...
And my concern is now in vain.
Believe the word,
I will unlock my door...
And pass the cemetery...

Gates!

Melting Pot Blog #1(Fans of Greenblatt, Ruegger, and my sex life welcome)

Been a while since I made a new blog, so here it is. Let's start off with my most recent additions to my TV show on DVD collection. Season 1 of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy's in, but I haven't got much time to watch it(more about that show later). Also at long last found a copy of season 1 of Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy into my collection. I've only seen the first 3 eps so far, but I love having it in my collection, even if the show didn't get truly amazing until the nest season. And, of course, season 7 of That 70's Show, which is great, even with the false coloring of Donna's hair on the cover.

Now, to a more pressing matter, a guy on ToonZone with connections mentioned that at long last, Tiny Toon Adventures will be coming out on DVD! But, with a catch. Volume 4 of Animaniacs will be put on indefinite hold if so. Now why, I don't know. The most recent set sold well enough, so why not? Personally, I'm kind of mixed. I'll get both sets regardless of what comes out first or not, but if I could pick one first... V4 of A! Now, I'll say it right here: I've already got A! at it's prime on DVD, and TTA didn't get to it's prime until about what we'll get in the evidential V4, but I'd rather get the complete series of one show now then have two incomplete series of two shows. But I'll get TTA regardless if it does come out.

Oh yes, on to more social news. After over a year of missing action, I've got a new girlfriend! Her name's Courtney, she's 15(I believe?), small, skinny, and Gothic. In other words, she's perfect. Her and I met at the anime club a group of friends and I formed(I'll get more into that at another time), and we're really hitting it off.

Now tomorrow night is the premiere of CN's newest toon, Chowder, and considering the creator, C. H. Greenblatt's, pedigree, you'd better believe I'm(and Mother3_GBA, for sure) excited. So much so, that this weekend, I'm thinking of holding a discussion party for those who caught it on it's page. Since Courtney and I will be going to a real party tomorrow, I won't catch the show straight up, but I'm recoding it on my DVR and will watch it first thing when I come home.

And before I go, I just want to say that I'm starting to get into Heroes. I've been renting it from Blockbuster, and I'm on episode 10, and I'm really enjoying watching the story develop, and the show's direction. I really enjoy the Petrilli brothers and Niki and her family's perils the most. Willing to talk about the show if you are. Good day.

Examining Jake... My Two-Cents on the American Dragon's Legacy

Yep, the deed's done, but I still haven't gotten over this great show, so I thought I'd say a piece about the show's episodes. As for why I like the show, it's one of the few cartoons today that doesn't talk down to the children, with interesting storylines, clever and unseemingly-forced jokes, and a serious relationship that actually developed. Here we go.

Season 1:

"Old School Training": Uh, OK, not the series' finest. The slang here is used more than in any other episode, but it does introduce a lot of what's to come for us, so I give this one credit for that.

"Dragon Breath": Better then the first, for sure. The idea is pretty clever(Jake unknowingly takes a Nix to his school dance), and I got a good laugh at Jake's dragon breath here.

"The Talented Mr.Long": Funny material here, with Brad not being able to play the piano, and Fu Dog as a puppet, and the fight between Jake and the genie's pretty inventive.

"Legend of the Dragon Tooth": Here we learn that Haley's learning her powers, and hers and Jake's relationship developed here, but the crazy dentist idea was pretty strange.

"Act 4, Scene 15": My first episode, and still remains a favorite. The foreshadowing for what's to come with Jake and Rose by using the play Antony and Cleopatra was really great, and we get a little more into the story arc here.

"Adventures in Trollsitting/Fu Dog Takes a Walk": "Trollsitting" was pretty funny, to watch Jake hide Stanley from his aunt, but I don't think I was too crazy for "Walk" last time I saw it.

"Professor Rotwood's Thesis": The show's turning point for me. Trixie and Spud discover that Jake's a dragon, just when they give him up to Rotwood for money! And best of all, Jake didn't erase their memories, a step up for him!

"The Egg/The Heist": "Egg" was no good, a predictable romp in which Jake and Huntsgirl/Rose via for an egg, but "Heist" was a nice Mission Impossible tribute, and introduced Pandreas for us.

"Dragon Summit": Interesting, really interesting here. We get acquainted to the Dragon Council, discover that relatives normally aren't allowed to be a dragon's trainer, meets numerous other dragons, and get introduced the the awesomeness that is the Dark Dragon.

"Body Guard Duty": My second favorite. I love the Oracle Twins, and the were entertaining throughout, and even gave us a little warning in the future here. Oh, and Trixie and Spud tying the "knot"= win

"Shapeshifter": It would of been even ebtter if Jake could of kept this power. Oh well. anyway, straight-on spoofs of Jesse McCartney and Tony Hawk in this one, plus more of the Huntsclan.

"Ski Trip": Wow. Jake learns about Rose, about hwat she does, and wow, just, wow. That's all I can say here. A must watch.

"The Long Weekend: After last ep's drama, a lighthearted ep is a nice change of pace. Jonathan's naivety is well-developed here, and adds to the plot, plus on the flip side Haley develops her powers a little as well.

"Eye of the Beholder": Really funny ep to have Fu learn a little more about woman, and Panderas returns, too! I will say I think there was a little more then necessary crude humor last time I watched, but it was decent nonetheless.

"Jake Takes the Cake: Nice to see Susan have a job. A couple of good soap opera parodies and a nice song to tire down the gremlin's, but it's ultimately filler,

"Hong Kong Nights": Excellence! We learn more about Lao Shi's past as the Chinese dragon, including how he first took down the Dark Dragon and met both Fu and Chang.

"The Halloween Bash": Interesting idea for a Halloween ep(Jake combines both humans and magical creatures), and also shows the returns of both the Huntsclan and the Dragon Council.

"Fu and Tell/Fight of the Unicorn": "Tell" goes a little more into Fu's past, which is always nice, but "Unicorn" didn't do it for me.

"Keeping Shop": Started out pretty funny watching Trixie, Spud, and Fu take care of the shop alone, but once Trixie and Spud gained dragon powers, it sortof went downhill for me.

"Ring Around the Dragon": Jake tries to bring back a child giant who joins a Wrestling League, yawn! I've really only seen it once, but the ep(even with Trixie selling Jake merchandise) was rather dull.

"The Hunted": Had some nice emotional buildup, and the ending did bring me to almost tears, but the "Jake brings along magical convicts" subplot should of been non-existent.

Season 2:

"Bring It On": Everyone was scolding the new artwork, but I didn't care. As for this ep, I liked having Trixie, one of the most despised characters, develop a little for a change, and it introduced one of my favorite series sub-plots: Spud's quest for Stacy's heart

"Half-Baked": Watching Jake try to get back Rose by any means was inspirational indeed, but the ep itself isn't an all-time favorite, but we do meet Sun Park.

"The Academy": Just the entire thing, watching Jake and Spud sneak into the Huntsclan academy and having Jake finally find Rose and sneak her out, was just too epic for Disney Channel to handle.

"The Doppelganger Gang": Eh, not a fav. The entire thing(Jake makes a bunch of clones of himself to do 20 different things at once, but also has an evil clone to spice things up) just has that "been there, done that" feel to it.

"Something Fishy This Way Comes": Whoa, the Principal is a mermaid! Didn't see that coming! The ep itself is pretty good, too. And who knew that Spud wanted to be a mermaid?

"Breakout": Jake's dragon acne isn't pretty, but Rose's affections for him remaining the same even then sure was.

"Family Business": Sun Park returns as Haley's dragon trainer, and Haley learns the ropes as well. Not bad. Not bad at all.

"Hero of the Hourglass": Wait, a time traveling episode that doesn't mess with the continuity, and not even a reset button used? Yep. Only on AD.

"Dreamscape": Here we learn a little more about Rotwood's past, Spud's dreams, and Rose's family. Damn, that was shocking.

"A Befuddled Mind": Panderas is pissed! And after seeing what Jake did to his empire earlier on, I would be too. This ep proves that Spud is different from the pack of morons, and why he's a fav.

"Fool's Gold": The slang is basically unbearable here, and the animation doesn't help, and the plot isn't even that original(Jake selling out? Yawn.), but it's worth it for the final 1/3.

"Feeding Frenzy": We get to see more of Jake's family here, and Jonathon and Lao Shi's relationship grew a little, too! A two-in-one!

"Haley Gone Wild": Heh, Haley gets all bad on us, nice change of pace for her.

"Supernatural Tuesdays": This was pretty great. Nigel's an interesting foe/ally for Jake, and Trixie and spud help the school in their own way!

"The Rotwood Files": Nice, Rotwood learns a little more about Jake. Or a lot. Guess why.

"Hairy Christmas": I, uh.... Haven't seen it yet. Postponed on that when it aired last year. Maybe i'll share my thoughts later.

"Switcheroo": We learn more about Haley's struggles to be so perfect here, and that ending always gets me.

"Love Cruise": Damn, that was great. Shame I only saw it once.

"Year of the Jake": I also never got the chance to see this one. Weak.

"Homecoming": What more can be said about this one, expect that 30 minutes doesn't do it justice?

"Young At Heart": Jake matures a little here, in more ways then one. It's fun, particularly elderly Spud's battles with the gnome, but it's merely a "This Man.. This Monster" to AD's "Galactus Trilogy".

"Siren Says": Most seem to hate it, but I kind of like it. It's surprise ending with no moral is at least worthy of some praise.

"Shaggy Frog": Tons of fun in this one with Spud becoming a frog creature, and the return of 3's 88 and 89.

"Nobody's Fu": Warmed us up for the series finale, yes, but I cannot stand Bananas at all.

"Magic Enemy #1": Really interesting to show Rotwood driving Jake to the brinkof insanity just to reveal his identity before his 48th birthday, and the Oracle Twins return as well.

"A Ghost Story": Jake, next time, leave the ghost hunting to Danny, you're just not that good at it.(don't laugh, Danny, you're next!)

"Bite Father, Bite Son": Nice to see Jake and Johnatan's relation develop here, and see Jon go all crazy on the vampires.

"Game On": Ugh. My least favorite. It serves no purpose; no good fight scenes, no funny scenes, no development, it's just filler.

"Furious Jealousy": Nice to see Spud's desire for Stacy be the focus here, and the return of Fury. Plus Jake's Rotwood impression was classic.

"Being Human": Jake's narrating was a nice touch for this near-finale, and also to see Haley take on Jake's job for a change.

"The Hong Kong Longs": As a regular episode or even a season finale this would of been excellent, almost perfect, but as an only 22 minute series finale, it's really disappointing. not going into details here, though.

There's my 2 cents. Keep the change.
