@hardwenzen: So far from what I've heard, it's Sekiro meets God of War 2018 which makes sense as the devs want to steer clear of turning it into a pure souls gameplay style, and for better or worse, it needed to be its own thing.
I gotta give credit where credit is due. Game Science has done the impossible. An actual Chinese game that is a single-player gameplay experience, and opens to be a GOTY contender on their first ever project. Amazing and it's also a "Journey to the West" game at that.
Day one purchase on PC. Great review Richard Wakeling👌👍👏
Look, I'm sorry but my three strikes went off immediately the second I saw the trailer:
1. You went from an M-rated game to turning it into PG-13 was doomed from the start!
2. Kevin Hart as Roland! No offense to Kevin, but he's no Roland and very miscast!
3. Lilith and Tannis being suddenly an extra 30-40 years olds is insulting!
As someone who's not a hardcore fan of the games and only likes Borderlands 1, 2, Tales from the Borderlands, and Tiny Tina's Wonderland. It seriously breaks my heart to see just how bad this turned out.
At least the only good thing coming out of this is the fact Borderlands movie will be on Streaming service really soon. This is the kind of movie that should have been on Streaming app.
The game was garbage from the ground up. Garbage level design with zero exploration, zero enemies variety, poor combat system, garbage optimization, bad story & chracters and so on. Those three n a half months wouldn't have done anything to this disaster. I had such high hopes, and this is the final product... Teaches you to hype a game from a noname developer.
To be fair, I didn't think Callisto Protocol was nearly as bad as some people were saying, but it definitely was a disappointment. I had zero interest in the characters and story and the whole time I was hoping that aspect would get good.
Callisto Protocol was a nice looking game, but very poor gameplay. Very linear and it relies too much on being a Dead Space clone for its own good and this is coming from a guy who loves the Dead Space franchise. And it doesn't help Striking Distance Studio prioritize PS5 over both Xbox Series & PC which also hurt the game for the most part. First impression is last impression and rightfully so.
Overall, I don't think Callisto Protocol is the worst game, just flat-out disappointing. Dead Space Remake was freaking awesome, it sure did make Callisto Protocol look like crap, and I don't expect a sequel will be made about how bad the sales were. (I personally would like to see a sequel)
Edit: Given some behind-the-scenes. The Info suggests they rushed the game on a last minute of desperation once they found out Dead Space Remake was coming out soon and it's why the story is kind of disintegrates right near the ending, with plot twists and actions that don't follow the logic of the early parts of the game's story.
