So i'm building a general use computer for my gramps (emails, youtube, solitaire).

I put this build together, which i think is pretty solid. I'm just making sure i'm not overseeing anything. i relise the motherboard has no 6gbp sata ports, but he won't notice and all he needs is stuff running fast, he doesn't use up much HDD space either (used only 22gb's over 5 years) which is another reason to go SSD.

Anyway specs below and opinions appreciated.

i put this together, which seems to be just under $1000.00 (assuming you already have a hdd+kb and mouse.

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ Microcenter)

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.44 @ NCIX US)

Motherboard: ASRock P67 PRO3 (B3) ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($119.99 @ Newegg)

Memory: G.Skill 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($29.99 @ Newegg)

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB Video Card ($224.99 @ Newegg)

Case: Antec Three Hundred ATX Mid Tower Case ($43.42 @ Amazon)

Power Supply: Antec 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($101.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Monitor: Samsung S23A300B 23.0" Monitor ($199.99 @ Amazon)

Total: $929.80

This system is awesome, and i would suggest you stay away from pre-builts.

That mobo doesn't look very good, i'd highly reccomened an asus mobo.

Also, why not just get the 560ti instead of the 560, its a huge performance leap.

And i'd recommend a higher wattage power supply,450 watts is really low, i'd recommend 650 watts-750 watts, then you have room if you wanted to upgrade in the future.

New question regarding getting a gaming rig: If I get the parts that were recommended on the last page, plus Window 7, will I still be able to run games like Crysis 1, GTA IV, Oblivion, or other older titles pretty well? Or is Vista the only way to play them? Also, is Vista able to play most (if not all) of the games that will be coming out in late 2011 and 2012?Mawy_Golomb

Definitly buy windows 7, vista is god awful. Also, Newegg is a good place to buy parts online.

@sanny18 Please educate yourself more on computers before building one.
