I DARE ANYONE to call the Wii an updated GC. Go on, just try.TruewisebladeIt is one, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad thing. I mean look at the Star Wars games for GC.

But...but teh Gamecube 1.5!11!
I don't see how those screeenshots do anything to disprove the "GameCube 1.5" argument, at least from a graphics standpoint.
Well, when you factor in that the Gamecube wasn't fully exploited, this is what you get when you double or triple the power. It's no PS3/Xbox360, but it's good enough. Sadly, it seems like Nintendo is keeping all the nice graphical techniques to themselves as well as Factor 5.

Enjoy. It looks great, and I would love to play.

it's an early build. But it's shaping up to look good.
They say it's coming 2007, so I wouldn't say that it would improve dramatically. It looks like they just built off of DR and improved the environments and animation, with some minimal character detail.  I am dissapointed they decided to let you use guns in the game (See the end of the trailer)
That whole "gun finish" combo with Bryan is just plain silly, and has no place in Tekken. Namco really needs to work on skin textures and lighting. With renderers like what are in Unreal Engine 3, Namco has no excuse not to be make characters on par with their cg models through normal mapping. They even licensed the Unreal Engine 3 for use with Frame City Killer, but they seemed like they didn't know how to use it at all. Maybe that's the reason that graphics are meh.
More impressions from the professionals ;)

February 16, 2007 - Shocker from the land of raw fish and tofu. Something big actually happened at one of those Japanese arcade shows where nothing big usually happens. How big? How about the proper debut of the sixth entry in a certain Namco fighting series?
That's right, Tekken 6 showed face at the AOU arcade expo in Japan today, ending a lengthy silence that followed the underwhelming trailer clip that introduced the game as a PlayStation 3 title back at last year's E3.
So is Tekken 6 a PlayStation 3 game, or an arcade game? The answer will likely be both! The game will debut sometime in 2007 as the first arcade game to use a new arcade board based off the PlayStation 3 hardware. News of a PS3-based arcade board is news in of itself, as it's the first time such a project has been mentioned. Presumably, ports to the PS3 itself will be simple, meaning Tekken 6 is as good as confirmed for home release.
The footage showed at AOU consisted of a trailer, followed by a brief interview with director Katsuhiro Hirada. Hirada was also director of Tekken 5, so this latest entry in the series appears to be in good hands.
Based on Hirada's comments during the interview, Team Tekken will be retaining for Tekken 6 the elements of Tekken 5 and Dark Resurrection that were received well by players. Hirada promised the greatest character count the series has ever seen, along with heavily customizable character costumes. He also made mention of greater interactivity in the stages.
Two new characters were introduced in the AOU trailer. Zafina is a female character whose moves Hirada likened to that of a spider. Leo is a German character whom Hirada expects beginners and experienced players alike to enjoy.
The E3 Tekken 6 teasaer clip shocked many with how terrible it looked, especially compared to the pre-rendered teaser clip Namco had shown at the E3 before. The footage shown today, which we presume is represenative of how the final game will look, looks a lot better than the E3 clip, but doesn't stand up to Sega's Virtua Fighter 5 in terms of detail and lighting. The game does run in high definition, although we're not sure if that means 1080p or 720p.
But don't take our word for it. Namco has made the trailer available in streaming format at its website. Click here to start the Windows Media 9 stream. We've also uploaded our own version of the trailer, which we grabbed with the IGN spy cam off the show floor. The quality isn't the greatest, but you should get an idea of what the game will look like.
As to how it will play. Well, there is that little bonus footage at the end of the trailer showing one of the characters firing a gun. We're expecting a few surprises when Tekken 6 arrives in arcades later this year.chrismunx
Even IGN said it didn't look that good. They should have created a normal map from the cg models. It's dissapointing. I won't even get into them still retaining animations from Tekken 2 and Bryan's shotgun. I hate to say this, but I think MK will look much better graphically than this since it's using Unreal Engine 3.
This is why wee games look like game cube games.

Totally agree. Most devs haven't even come close to what Factor 5 did at the GC launch (Rebel Strike) . The GC could do normal mapping. There is no excuse. Last gen most devs were porting games from PS2, and not even exploting the GC at all. It's still happening
IGN: Resident Evil 4 was a beautiful GCN title. Rogue Squadron was doing things at launch that developers still haven't done on Wii. Why do you think that is? Are studios getting sloppy on Wii?
Julian: Yes. I'm so disappointed knowing exactly what the Wii can do -- and I still think nobody knows it better than we (no pun intended) [laughs]. I really have to say, boy, am I disappointed! They all have finally figured out, five years into the hardware's life cycle, how to do at least basic shaders and a rim light, but that's what everybody does. But I still don't see enough bump and normal-mapping, if any. I still don't see enough post effects, although you would have insane fill-rates with Wii. I don't see any of that. I was digging out Rebel Strike the other day and was looking at it, and we had some people who were visiting ask, "Why isn't anybody else doing this on Wii?" And I am at a loss. I really am.
