Chapter 2
The First Level.
As I entered the corrupted church I notice the brick walls that were worn down with the villagers blood and the low light, not being able to see in front of me was not good...not good at all. I made sure I kept close to the walls and leaned behind carefully to see what I was up against. Knowing that this place could hold unspeakable monsters that could tear me to shreds I would have to be on guard for anything. I walked forward until I came to a large room with a bright light in the center. In the center of the light was a large wooden chest.
"Could this be a trap?" I thought.
Will it won't hurt me to find out...but I best be on my guard. As I stepped to wards the chest I started to hear a voice coming from within. The chest was shaking as if the person was tied up. When I reached the chest I stood on the side to make sure it wasn't a trap. I put my shield close to my face to be prepared, and to my surprise it was a woman. Her eyes looked at me with excitement.
"You must have been in here for a while" I said.
I quickly took off the cloth around her mouth so she could breathe better.
"Thank the Heavens!!" She said.
"How did this happen?" I asked.
"I was one of the solders sent to destroy the Butcher. When we entered the church I got separated and then surrounded by a large group of goblins." she said
"Odd for them not to kill you?" I said.
"True. But I'm just glad I'm alive!" she said with frustration.
I then helped untie the rope that was tying her up. I notice she was wearing studded leather along with a bow and a reaper on her belt.
"OH! I'm sorry I believe we haven't introduced each other yet. I'm Alice...and you?" she said.
"I'm Oyar of Kurast. I have been sent on a task to kill this Butcher." I said.
"Hmmm. Maybe... Maybe" Alice said.
There was a long pause before she said anything else.
"Will you look to be a paladin? So maybe you can defeat him... But I will help to make sure you actually do!"
"Are you sure about that? Look what happened to you the first time..." I replied.
"WHAT!!! Are you saying I can't do this!" Alice screamed.
"Sorry... I mean not to offend you... It's just..."
"Just what!" Alice replied.
"Never mind..." I said
"So I'm coming with you?" She asked.
"...I guess so." I told her.
"Good. Now lets get going," She said.
We started to walk down a long dark hallway when we started to hear some footsteps behind. To our surprise it was a large group of goblins. Could these be the same goblins that tide up Alice? I thought.
"Are these the ones from before?" I asked.
"I'm not sure... There was on goblin there that was like a leader. It had large suit of armor." She replied.
"ATTACK!!!" one of the goblins screamed.
"Will know time to figure out now!" I said.
The goblins charges at us like maniacs with swords flailing in the air. Alice quickly took out her long bow and fired at the front row of goblins charging. I charged at them killing what little remained. Limbs flying off and bodies hitting the ground, within a few short minutes the battle was over.
"That was simple!" Alice said.
"Will... For now..." I told her.
"These could have just been grunts. Who knows what else will face in her. So be on your guard!" I said.
"True." she replied " we were very lucky that they were week and not some of the top creatures after us!"
"Will we got to move on if were going to destroy this creature" I said.
As we walked deeper into the church the sent of decaying bodies grew stronger and stronger. The walls had a thick layer of blood on them. I had a strong feeling that there is more to this then this Butcher. Like a great evil was lurking deep under the grounds of Tristram. Although I wasn't sure of it at the time, I must ask the villages once I finish this.
"Quickly we must make haste!" I said.
"Alright. But it won't be easy." Alice said.
After that small talk we decided to run to the next level fighting and killing monsters here and there and dodging traps and other foul things that were in this chapel. Eventually as we were dodging the last of the traps we made it the entrance to the second level to the Chapel. To where the Butcher resigned and cause mayhem to what ever it could get its hands on!
"We should stop and rest before we go down there. Who knows what could be waiting for us!" Alice said.
"Your right. We should also make sure we have enough supplies so that we can survive as will." I told her.
As we finished planning and making sure we were prepared for what laid done on the second level. We could only hope that we make it out in one piece. Cause ... I have a feeling that something horrible is going to happen by the end of this adventure.
