Thanks - I've tried 1,3 and 4 several times but no luck, and I just can't find the prefs script, can't even find creativeassembly in the appdata folder. i think its something else because cinematics for warcraft 3 don't work either :/gamer_seriousCould also try running in compatibility mode, other than that, I suggest you head to the total war forums. Hope it all works out for you.
thanks, yeah 2am here. Um, I should be fine, I've got a new alienware M14x, so i think it has an i7 processor, 6 g ram, should be enough?gamer_serious1. Run the Visual C++ redist setup again. This can be found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\redist\vcredist_x86.exe, or your equivalent directory (varies according to OS). 2. Delete or rename your preferences script. This can be found by typing %appdata% in any navigation bar then hitting enter. Navigate to The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts\ and delete or rename the file preferences.script.txt 3. Verify the integrity of your game cache. Right click on Shogun 2 and click Properties. Then navigate to the local files tab and click "Verify integrity of game cache...". This ensures your version of Shogun 2 is exactly the same working version that appears on the server. 4. Delete your Steam ClientRegistry.blob file. This can be found in your Steam installation folder (for me it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam)
Sorry, um I'm new, a box saying starting to launchgamer_seriousDon't worry, it's 2.30am right now for me, I should be sleeping. Can you tell us your computer specs?
Does anyone have any advice for stalled launch of total war shogun 2? Dialog box appears for a second then just black screen, have tried everything else suggested on the web, i.e verifying game cache, checking drivers, reinstalling.... thanksgamer_seriousDialog box?
Battle.net, that's it. I though it was like some launcher/hub thingy. Though your mentioning of split second decisions is a little off putting. I guess the matchmaking would make up for it.No, SC 2 has it own matchmaking system called Battle.Net. You have several leagues in the game ranging from Bronze to Platinum and then Diamond. Realistically, its impossible to get to Diamond and most people will never reach Platinum.
It places you in a league based on how well you play so it should always match you with roughly equal oponents no matter how good or bad you are. Its matchmaking is quite good and it has an extremely active playerbase.
Just understand the game is crazy competitive and you can easily win or lose matches in split second decisions and tactics.

I just bought it, it's installing now so I'll let you know what I think when it finishes. For $4.50 almost any game is worth it at that price. ferrari2001Really interested in the performance as I have a lappy that's pretty dodgy.
