You can build a desktop PC that will play anything on high for $600.

Well one of the monitors I listed that had a very good review is the BenQ 24" LCD Monitor With 2ms Response Time (G2420HD) 1920 x 1080. I am trying to find more reviews on it and seeing how often I can find people complaining about it in forums because the review I read for the Samsung PX2370 listed it in the top 5 monitors but the one I have has some major problems. I hear IPS is suppose to be better but more expensive and probably suffers from the same problems as LCD and LED. Going to read up more on that soon.HeyDoYaThang

Get BenQ. After my problems with Samsung I won't touch any of their products.

Well it's better to be able to play the game at lowest settings then not being able to play at higher settings. I mean I was using a notebook that was 9 years old and it still works. I got this new Sony notebook as a gift and it's 100 times better than my old Sony notebook. I can't afford to buy any computers and I was lucky to get this new one. Plus it wasn't like the cheapest one out there today you know. I seen notebook that are $350 but mine was normaly around $700 so I am lucky. I thought somehow this notebook will play all games today but just at least on lowest settings.Dustin_Broke

The lowest settings look about as good as those from your 9 year old laptop.

[QUOTE="desertpython"]

The next question is why play at low settings? A console would be much better here.

gmaster456

You make an valid point but my counter argument would be that a Console is not as portable as a laptop.

But low settings? That defeats the point of of playing games. The OP should have bought an Alienware M11x if he wanted portability and gaming.

If its new cables, its the HDD. Run Hitachi's GST too as a boot disc for a second opinion. I'd buy a Seagate Barracuda 500GB - mine works fine. It could be the place you are buying from too.
