Consoles, even the ones that failed, used to launch with at least one title that you just HAD to play. The NES had Super Mario Brothers, nuff said. The Genesis had Ghouls 'n' Ghosts. The SNES had Super Mario World. The Playstation had Battle Arena Toshinden, Warhawk and Ridge Racer. The Nintendo 64 had Super Mario 64. The XBOX had Halo. Since then, there hasn't really been any system with a truly great, original game in its launch lineup. The PS3, PSP, DS. the Wii did have a Zelda game but we all knew it was a Gamecube game with a mild facelift. The 360 had Call of Duty 2, but that was just a port. The 3DS seems to be joining these systems. That doesn't mean it won't be a great system. Neither the PS2 or 360 had great games at launch but they went on to be systems that had great software libraries. When Zelda, Kid Icarus and Starfox 64 are out, I'll get one. I want to have those three games when I get in the mail.
I have this feeling I'm going to love "Journey" when I play it. If I had a high end PC, I'd get Minecraft but my Macbook has a touchpad and Minecraft looks like the sort of game you really need to play with a mouse. I'm still curious about it, though.
