@Gelugon_baat: Which I think it is great, you could find it enticing and entertaining enough to buy it or be happier to save yourself the money. This game seems to be a hit or miss for what I can see. Total hit in my case xD
I always loved Gamespot reviews cuz even tho they were usually harsh, they had interesting points of view and reasons behind them that were definitely worth reading. This is not to say the reviews are awful nowadays, but they lost something old GS used to have. Old GS felt like a strong voice in the world of VG Reviews, nowadays (pretty much this generation) it feels like a disjointed or disconnected voice from the rest... I am not saying that they are supposed to be "in line" with everything that is said outside but i do not know how to explain it, as a long time reader it feels so different lately.
I watched this video and listened how everybody at GS felt in accordance with PeterĀ“s review and I am sitting here like "yep, Im sure everybody at GS feels that way and they cant seem to understand how others felt so different about QB". I really miss old GS.....
Peter, I have no doubt in my mind your review was honest, but I am just as honest when i ask "did we play the same game?" QB is far from perfect, but it is one of the most interesting approaches i have seen this generation.
Am I alone when i say combat is not "front and center" in QB but its story?
@destinhpark: I totally agree with you, 8 or 8.5 would be my score, however, gonna play a little of DevilĀ“s Advocate here in regards to the players choice thing...
**** POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD ****
the whole point in the theory they chose for time traveling is that you can not change what happens in the past, even if you go back.... you might slightly change HOW it happened but can not change WHAT happened. So i felt like the game really made me want to go back and see things differently but it would go back to the same events (just like the characters, so i thought that was pretty immersive). Think about it, would have been congruent with the game to have different endings and/or outcomes by changing 3 or 4 decisions? Like... having different endings based on our choices while the game constantly threw us the fact that "the past cannot be undone".
Maybe it hinders the replay value, but in my case, i feel very curious to see it all happen in a different way when i play it again with different choices.
In any case, i think thats one of the points seems to be 1 or 0 but nothing in between hehehe
@hollywood1: This. I am on act 3 and the game has been amazing so far. I usually agree with GS reviews and I thought "damn it, this is what I get for preordering". But I decided to play it anyways and I have had a blast, totally surpassed my expectations. Now, this is what I have noticed with the combat:
If you play this like GoW or The Division you are gonna have an extremely boring game, and this is why the combat seems sloppy and I can see the game getting a 5,, why? cuz the storytelling is phenomenal but the combat and weapons would feel like a mess.
If you play this game like you are controlling time and making combos with your powers, the combat is so much fun, the weapons are there to finish your opponents at the end of a well timed combo. I love to "time stop" a group of mobs just to "time dodge" and "focus" on single targets. It is so satisfying xD
@game4metoo: Thank you for sharing the video, it was certainly great to watch and full of concerns. I have usually gamed on consoles (other than blilzzardĀ“s games and a few games in Steam and another few games in Origin) and could not understand the perspective from the pc gaming community on this. This video def helped.
Seems complicated, they want exclusives in their store that will attract consumers, while many consumers feel deprived of the power of choice by forcing them to use MS platform. It is like bringing the console wars to the PC community in the form of "store wars". Wish they would add benefits when getting a game from their store instead of locking the game just to them. Like if you preorder a game with them you get the season pass at no extra cost.
