[QUOTE="digidrive"]yeah, butthose are still rich man's toys.Viviath

for real. i watched a blu-ray movie on my friend huge 1080p sony tv and it was amazing, but at home i have to settle for my small HDTV that cant output 1080p.

If you can afford stuff like this then you are a very privileged person on this planet. Many of you seem to forget that and take luxury for granted, or even standard.

[QUOTE="user_nat"]I think people seem to forget that the core 360 doesn't have BC either..coolviper2003

You can remedy that by buying a hard drive if you want, please tell mewhat 40GB ownersare going to do if they want BC. Sony should have removed WiFi instead.

The BC is ran by software, I'm sure some hacker can find a way to upload the software or unlock the feature. Then everyone on the web who has half a brain can do it themselves and there ya go, BC.

Do you have any idea how much work it would take to create a software emulator for the PS2 that runs most of the games? If it was that easy it would have been done already, and yes, to develop such a software would cost a lot of money. MS isn't willing to do it either for the xbox.

[QUOTE="coolviper2003"]No BC for the 40 gb PS3 is a shame. Since BC is just emulated through software I'm sure you can hack into it and unlock the feature, or upload it some how. coolviper2003

The fact that backwards compatibility doesn't work at all on the 40 GB tells you that Sony took out something hardware related that made that backwards compatibility possible. Otherwise, they would have left it in.

Where did you get that info from? All PS2 and PS1 games are ran on emulators (exception the 60 gb version) , meaning no PS2 hardware is required, it's all software. The cell can technically run PS2 games by itself, it's way more then powerful enough to do that.

The 60 gb model doesn't run most PS2 games, far from it. The software emulator doesn't work THAT well. Some people seem to think that an emulator would just come out of nowhere. To develop such a software takes a lot of work, costs money and is most likely not an easy task.

By the way, they probably did take some hardware out of the new model that we haven't found out about yet. Many people say that. It would make sense

[QUOTE="Ramadear"]I don't think anyone plays Mario for voice acting or a storyline lol. goodlay

... Suddenly voice acting and storyline aren't important.

Since when was story and voice acting crucial to a Mario platformer?

Since never. SMG is a 3D platformer. As such, what is important is level design, responsive controls and that the camera doesn't become an obstacle.

voice acting in mario is dumbest waste of effort ever.

story is of NO importance (in any game). it merely an excuse for Gameplay.

so yes, galaxy is probably perfect gameplay

Always-Honest

It should be said more often.

No voice acting? That's a big plus.

The success of the PlayStation platforms has led to a fantastic library of games. To remove the compatability on the PS3 is to make it incompatible with the entire PlayStation library that we have today. It's like they put an end to it. I am supposed to believe that all the games I have collected, and still play from time to time are suddenly not good enough to be played. Good games are always good games. So enough about how BC is not needed. If you just want to play the newest games you can always do so, if you want to play all the games you like you won't be doing it on the new PS3 model.

[QUOTE="digidrive"]Why are there still xbox 360 fanboys? That thing just keeps breaking because of its poor design.farrell2k

It rarely breaks, and is replaced for free if it does.

Yeah, it rarely breaks...seriously.

I believe that. Mine has been working well to this day since Jan 06. I don't know anyone who has had a problem with theirs. The only place I seem to hear about broken 360s is on the internet.

Every piece of electronics will eventually break, but I douibt it is as much as fanboys and the uninformed claim. There are too many consumer protection laws in the U.S. and other countries that would clamp down on a 33% failure rate faster than you could blink an eye. There is also NO WAY any retailer would put their name behind a product that fails 33% of the time. You're living in fanboy dreamland, if you really believe that.

Did I say I believed the failure rate was as high as 33%?

Someone said it rarely breaks. That I don't believe.

And I do know of retailers how don't want to deal with the xbox because of the trouble (I am talking about smaller retailers).
