JL: We learned a lot about the development on consoles both from a technical but also design perspective. Coming from a PC history, it required a major change of mind-set in regards to approaching development, processes, design, and technology. All these things are extremely valuable for all of our future projects. Great, so we'll never get another Crysis or Warhead again... Crysis 2 was great, better than a lot of other shooters but it's no Crysis 1. Looks like we can only expect console ports from any future Crysis games which is infinitely disappointing when compared to Crysis or Warhead.
@Mr_Deltoid So by your calculations, they can just sit back and do nothing now that the "amazing" PS3, the only one of its kind (as you say), has been born. First of all, my PC could eat 3 or 4 PS3's alive, meaning that they're really not that revolutionary, not anymore anyway. And second, a tech company like Sony needs to constantly create new hardware/software. Their system got ripped open, inevitably, so it's time to stop crying in court like little b*tches and go back to the drawing board. That's all I meant. There's always going to be someone hacking something. Crying about it won't fix anything. Making something new on the other hand... Xbox and PS3's are quickly becoming dated now anyway. Time for a new "gen," my PC wants a challenge.
@staticks "...which ultimately means less developer support and games in the future for the PS3." Right, Sony or the Playstation is really going to just go away. What this REALLY means is that now they're going to have to get up off their lazy asses and come up with some new ideas. I mean, God forbid they innovate.
"It's one that's more sustainable because we brought the world to a place that's inherently more interesting than "Yay, we beat the Blight. Good for us!" Isn't that what Origins was all about? Isn't that what made it such a great game? God this guy is a tool.
I think the biggest differences are between Modern Warfare 1 and 2. I loved all these games but the graphics really need an overhaul. The first thing I noticed playing Black Ops was the incredibly underwhelming graphics. That is, underwhelming by TODAY'S standards. It did have its moments, graphically speaking, but I don't think this engine should be used again. It's showing its age.
They all look the exact same but the Xbox 360 versions are all washed out. I don't know if it's just the monitors/TVs that are being used but it makes the PS3 versions look so much nicer. I don't care either way, I own a massive PC and nothing compares to that. Give me a thumbs down if you want but it's true. It's always been true.
