The developers at Dice specifically have said they cannot build a BF gamers yearly. It's been 2 years since BF3.BFBC2 was in 2010 and BF2 was in 2005. theres always been a decent amount of time between bf games.
Its just these noobies are so blinded from cod being shoved down their throats every xmas for like a decade.
Your comparison from windows 7 to windows 8 is definitely true. I know software and I know that the latest is not always the greatest! I have said that myself, if fact the software my company develops has had several useless versions, yes making it past R&D. I'm talking Versions that break another part of the system rendering it completely down. It sucks because even though they are broken versions they are still part of the upgrade process.
Anyways, I've been following BF and Patrick B. very closely since the early 2000's.
When Dice is putting out an update, there's definitely some changes. You can really tell when your 2-year old video card starts getting bogged down on max settings. That doesn't mean there wont be bugs, but one could say that for just about any software.
My suggestion would have been to get rid of the X.5 scores when switching to the new website to have completely eliminated any confusion. Then again I'm not sure I would get rid of the .XX altogether when reviewing games.
