Don't listen to him, he has no idea what he is talking about. The Q6600 at stock simply isn't fast enough for some games, take Bad Company 2 for instance!

When I built my new computer a few months ago my GTX 570 got here before anything else so as you'd imagine I paired it with my Q6600 rig fired up Bad Company 2 and what do you know? Lowest settings or highest settings my frame rate would dip into the 20's on some maps (Like Oasis) because Bad company 2 needs more than a Q6600 at 2.4, I never tried OCing it for BC2, but I'd imagine it would have helped.

So I wouldn't count on the Q6600, even if it runs most of your games ok right now it's still going to struggle more and more with every new title/tech especially if you're looking foward to BF3 as most of us are, though I did see a post saying BF3 won't be as CPU intensive as BC2, but that was probably bs.

BC2 loves high clock speeds. It was a stuttery mess when my E6600 was at stock, but OC'ed to 3.4ghz, the game runs perfectly.

Humans will survive, but our technologically advanced civilization might not.

Not true. Digital signals can still degrade (it may be a digital signal but it's still being transported as an electrical current, and contrary to popular belief you can actually lose picture quality with an inferior cable in specific circumstances), and a better cable will be less prone to degradation. For the most part this isn't an issue because most people only use ~6 foot HDMI cables, but at longer runs or in some high-interference settings a better cable can be the difference between getting an image or not.

Are you just regurgitating something you heard at Best Buy? Digital is all or nothing. There is no signal degradation. There wasn't even that much signal degradation with analog unless you were using a really crappy cable. Most of the stuff you hear about expensive cables is just snake oil salesman BS.
