@Ellimem: I've been going with Nvidia myself, but AMD's stock has gone up a lot in the last few months. After skimming some financial news, I still don't understand why.

Yahoo Finance says this though:

"Analysts have cautioned that these stock gains are unlikely to last, since AMD is not fundamentally strong. Its cash position and earnings are still weak. We’ll look at the key fundamentals of the company in the coming parts of the series."

@off3nc3: Wow. I was debating whether or not I wanted to spend $300-$400 after 2 years to get a new graphics card that I totally don't need. My current setup plays about everything in 1080p at 60 frames per second on high settings... Come to think of it, I don't need a new GPU (Graphics Processing Unit - aka graphics card) until I get a 4K TV or until VR starts making games that require more power.

If you're spending $1,000 every 6 months on your PC then you're not going to see very good performance gains because you're not getting as good of a value for your dollar when you go extremely high end. My current PC could sell for less than that.

Tl;dr: Don't be foolish with your money, even if you have more than you need. Save and build with value whenever you can.

Edit: Btw, don't be so hard on yourself. You're not an idiot, just a person with much to learn :)

@eva02langley: Isn't that pretty standard though? The higher range card you buy, the less bang for your buck you get.

@bluebird08: Lol, your comment might get a few people riled up, but I enjoy the humor of it. Uncharted 4 does look very nice, but I'm going to skip it because the gameplay of Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us (from the few hours of each I played) just wasn't quite what I'm into. The cinematics were fantastic of course. One of these days I'll go on YouTube and watch the story scenes to see what I've been missing.

A series like Dark Souls appeals to me much more with it's otherworldly environments, sense of exploration, character progression, and horrific monsters. In a way Dark Souls and Uncharted are very opposite. Dark Souls puts gameplay first, and seasons the experience with a bit of story for added effect. Uncharted, on the other hand, is more of a cinematic experience where each isolated scene lets the player take control of the protagonist within some confines from point A to point B. The term "Interactive Cutscene" comes to mind.

Gameplay comes first for me. It's pretty clear that Dark Souls appeals more to "hardcore" gamers while Uncharted tends to draw a more "casual" (and much larger) crowd. While I'll agree that Uncharted 4 has more impressive graphics than Dark Souls 3 (given that each are being played on console), the fact of the matter is that I enjoy the graphics of Dark Souls 3 more. To each their own, as both groups of players often have different preferences.

Will Uncharted 4 still be fun to play in 15-20 years from now? How about Dark Souls 3? It's fun to look back at the games we once loved and debate whether they're still fun to play today. Entries in the Super Mario Bros series? Still fun because they were all about gameplay. The original version of Resident Evil or Tomb Raider? I thought the gameplay sucked back then and it still sucks today (although I enjoyed a playthrough of Resident Evil 2 back in 1998.) I'd be happy to hear a counterpoint, but I'm thinking the Uncharted series fits into the Resident Evil / Tomb Raider genre of, "Impressive at the time with limited gameplay."

Thanks for listening to my beer-fueled essay and thanks for inspiring my thoughts :)

Interesting dialogue. I haven't played DQVII, so I'm guessing that this particular village has a strange dialect?

@ferna1234:

Noun

juvenoia ‎(uncountable)

  1. (neologism) The fear or hostility directed by an older generation toward a younger one, or toward youth culture in general.

So true. I see a lot of this in comment sections. It's just like the classic image of an old man telling kids to get off his lawn and saying the younger generation is the worst.

Farewell Chris Watters. You were consistently funny and great to watch and listen to. Best of luck to both of you.

Weird, some of those look like Warhammer... wait a minute, those pictures don't belong there.

Anyone else see pictures from other articles when you keep clicking the right button?
