Crysis is a badly optimised game and from what I've heard the remaster is even worse

Take my advice, the stand is going to be very important as well. A lot of cheaper (And even expensive) monitors really skimp out on that, so make sure you take that into consideration before you buy. Otherwise, you'll get a monitor which might have the perfect specs, but is very clumsy to use, or even one that outright collapses on itself.

This you will learn if you have a cat!

I would wait for new stuff to come out, as they will likely offer ray tracing and other features, plus theres a chance they could release something more affordable. Plus there's always the possibility of a price drop on the RTX 2000 series.

That's the approach I'm taking anyway, I have an AMD RX580 which is long in the tooth now so I'm just playing the waiting game.

@blazepanzer24: Holy crap I had that system, it was the first PC that I had that was my own back in 2006 as oppose to it being "the family PC". I remember wanting to run games like Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, Far Cry and Half Life 2. It ran those games fairly well considering I was running the onboard GFX. Thanks to these forums I bought a Geforce 7600GT and increased the RAM to 1GB. That allowed me to run those games maxed out or close to max. Then I bought games like FEAR, Oblivion and Call of Duty 2 and Doom 3 and whilst I had to limit myself to medium or medium/high settings, it gave me a very playable experience. That system was kind of my entry into PC gaming

I'd say CPU, but maybe that's just my frustration from the time I had AMD FX :). They don't scale like GPU's, tho, so as long as the CPU is good enough you won't notice any difference between a "recommended" CPU and a $1000 one. They do scale down on the low end, from occasionally dippy fps to really frustrating unplayable fps.

I had a Phenom X4 955 pared with a GTX570 in 2011 and I felt that CPU held me back a lot in a lot of games

The CPU ? I'm surprised. I thought surely it might be the memory.

Why? Memory is cheap and just holds data there for quick access. The CPU process's things like simulations and AI.

Memory is one of those where you either have enough or you don't. If you have enough then it won't even be an issue where as if you don't, you really notice it. However providing you have enough memory, I'd say the CPU

Thanks for the replies, I'm very impressed with the PC version so far. I'm running it at a mixture of high and ultra with Hairworks off and I'm getting a solid 60fps with just the occasional minor hiccup. The experience is so much more enjoyable as a result of the higher frame rate. As for the visuals, I was playing this on a PS4 Pro a 4k (via checkaboarding) and HDR. On PC I'm running at 1080P with no HDR and it still looks better to my eyes. It looks much sharper with more detail and the lighting seems better

I've been having an issue lately where my PC wifi connection is unstable. My PS4, smart TV and smart phone's wifi is fine, it's just my PC that is having the issue. I'm thinking I need a new network card but want to be sure before I purchase one.

Unfortunatly, connecting to my router via Ethernet is not possible

Not a lot, you need a dedicated GPU
