[QUOTE="eXXeSpAiN"] Thanks for the opinions guys. Your mostly all unanimously saying wait for the elite. Have any of you filled up your hard drives yet? If most of you haven't filled the 20gigs up in one or two years, I'm thinking when it does start to get full down the road, I can probably delete the older stuff...
When I first got my Dish Network receiver, I had it hooked up via component cables (was waiting for HDMI's to come in from online order), and honestly, I didn't notice all that much of a difference between the quality of the picture between the two. I watch TV at 720p over 1080i. Someone said the 360 CAN output at 1080p, but as of yet there are no games out at that resolution correct? Maybe after the elite there might be, but not yet?
I did a bunch of research before I bought the TV, and pretty much under a 48" screen size, 720p looks just as good as 1080p.
Basically I'm looking for concerete, no brainer answer to waiting the extra month, and more importantly, the extra $80. GreenHornet00
Ok, here are my thoughts on the subject:
The extra $80- Whether or not it is worth it is based on your preference, and it really comes down to hard-drive space. I have not had any issues with space, and I don't think I will because I do not download lots of video to my 360. If you think that the Video Marketplace is something you will be using a lot, then the 120gb will come in very handy. If not, 20gb will be just fine (and you can get another full game, or a ton of great XBLA games!).
HDMI- Sounds like you already have them filled (unless you want to put your dish back through component). Have you thought about maybe using the VGA cables? They output at 1080p as well (as far as I know, Virtual Tennis 3 is the only game that is native 1080p), but will put you back $40-50 (don't know the price in the States).
So, it's tough to say. Here's your choice as far as I can see it:
Xbox360 Premium + Game/VGA Cable + XBLA Games
or
Xbox360 Elite
I hope this helps! In the end, if you really want the best of the best, the Elite is the only way to go. If you just want to get to play the (IMO) best console of this gen, go for the Premium. Either way, though, you'll come out the winner. Hope you have fun!
Thanks a lot, good breakdown. Yeah, I do have my HDMI slots filled, I'd probably have to get one of the switchers (more money) if I wanted to HDMI the 360. Honestly, since most everything is in 720p natively already, it doesn't really make a difference. I'm sure component will look just as good? I definitely won't be doing any video downloads, just arcade downloads.
IMO the premium sounds like the better choice for me.
Here's an unrelated question: In Gears of War, can two people on the same console, in the same room play vs two other people via Xbox Live? I'm mostly going to be gaming with someone else. Other than GeoW, what are some other two player, Xbox Live online compatible games?
Thanks again.
