Be wary of 3rd party fans like the ones made by Nyko or whatever. They have a certain penchant for melting Xboxen. A lot of them draw power from the consoles own power supply via USB which only makes heating problems even worse as it stresses the hardware. Personally I like to leave a fan blowing on the back of the console on a hot day and if it gets hot enough and it's worked great for me.

The philosophy on video game consoles has always followed the old saying "you give away razors to sell the blades." You take an upfront loss on the sale of your console but make that back from the sale of 1st party accessories and games. The problem with the PS3 is that Sony is still taking a huge loss on every PS3 sold, upwards of 200 or 300 dollars based on certain variables. While both NIntendo and Microsoft making profits on every console they sell. I remember reading that Nintendo's take is 50 dollars a console sold while Microsoft pockets 80 to 100 dollars per console sold. The fact of the matter is that if Sony does drop the price, they're only widening the gap to profitability while Microsoft or even Nintendo could retaliate with it's own price drop and still break even. I'm not advocating one console over another here, I'm just saying that from a business perspective Sony is in a pickle right now.

I can't believe that nobody mentioned Starcraft! Nothing against the games so far, I read the whole list and found ones that even I wouldn't have thought of but come on, Starcraft has one of the most epic stories in an RTS ever along with Command and Conquer of course.

Someone asked me this the other day and this is the best answer I can give. Remember the good old days of Goldeneye on the N64? Remember the feeling of accomplishment when you achieved one of the target times and got stuff for your game? I kind of equate gamerscore to that, even though it doesn't net you unlocks, the achievements are still worth it for replay value and bragging rights.

SMGs: Tie Between MP9 and P90 for me. Assault Rifles: AK-47 hands down. Sniper: Scout Tactical (The main reason I love it is despite the fact that it's a little slower in light of the fact that it's a bolt action, it punches through any body armor from my experience.)

It all depends on the people you play with. I like all the games I play but have run into some real "meanieheads" (for lack of a better term) on several games. Perfect example was me playing Rainbow Six: Vegas earlier. I came into a lobby where this 13 year old kid stacked his entire clan of elites on one team with everyone else on the other. We were playing Casino Vault so naturally he made sure that they had the better spawn position and according to the guys on my team they had won every round so far, and the host Elite would ban the weapons that they were good with because he called them "noob weapons." I got in and set up along the pillars in the vault with a Scout Tactical and kept picking off their entire team running down their long spawn hallway cause they were too stupid to change their strategy while the rest of my team went around and picked off what was left. About 17 minutes into the 20 minute round, I get a message from the host accusing me of cheating and acting "like a noob" so they booted me and banned me from the server. Long story but I thought it was hysterical, and those are the douchebags you never want to play with. I don't even mind language, but when people act like such sore losers it makes me mad. Proving once again that experience != skill (LOL C++ humor)

Incredibly hackneyed stereotypes. I own a 360 and am looking to buy a Wii as soon as I start working again in the summer, I reiterate I'm not "waiting" to see how the Wii does, I'm a college student that can't work while school is in session. The 360 has plenty of games out now and coming that are not shooters (Oblivion, Mass Effect, Two Worlds, Dead Rising, Tomb Raider, Viva Pinata, PGR, Forza, Blue Dragon, Devil May Cry IV) and those are all of the AAA titles that have reviewed well. I like the Wii for the innovation and refuse to buy a PS3 until there's something that justifies spending $600 for it, but I don't have a vendetta against the people loyal to the brand. This was pretty much a worthless post.

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is coming out soon I think. It's really close to what you're describing because it's a World War II Shooter with a lot of tactical combat, not like more action oriented games like Call of Duty.

I also like rock, and while I like the classics I prefer to listen to harder stuff and NWOBHM when I play games. Nothing like headshotting people to Killers by Iron Maiden or running into battles with Disposable Heroes by Metallica blasting in my dorm room.

I"d really like to see your list of "really short" 360 games, it seems like kind of a baseless claim.
