So I have been playing both Okami and God Hand, and wow. These are two of the most brilliant games I have ever played. Why did no one buy these titles?
God Hand is a gift from the beat 'em up gods, brilliant tongue and cheek humor with a superb fighting system (and excellent difficulty). I do not believe I have ever had so many laugh out loud moments playing a video game. Okami is in a word, superb. In 15 years Interactive Art schools will be showing screen shots of this game. It is that beautiful and engaging. I have not been awed by a game like this in some time. The story is just as superb as the art direction, and the game play is A+. The sense of discovery as well as the "painting" system are excellent.
I was so on the GTA/Gears of War/God of War/Resistance bandwagon. But after playing these gems I see how shallow those games are. Kind of like comparing a Michael Bay and David Lynch movie. The developers really put their heart into these games.
Everyone do yourself a favor, with the exception of the 20 of you that bought both, and pick these games up. I wasn't a PS2 gamer last generation and recently picked up a PS3 (which is allowing me to make amends by picking up some excellent last gen ps2 titles). There is no better use for the PS3 right now.
Is is sad that such a brilliant pool of talent like Clover was disbanded...These are the type of games you will be reminiscing about 20 years from now.
