What would console gamers be left with?

Nintendo have destroyed the race as far as sales goes and it looks like xbox is in a good position for silver but I think it would be awfull if Microsoft or Sony pulled out like sega, atari and many others before them. The competition would be dead imo and the money the company invests in good games goes also, microsoft especially have proven once they have got a hold on a market they are quite happy to let their users / competition suffer in order to keep the monopoly.

IMO Nintendo are starting to show the signs of a company that knows there is no competition in that field, very little is being invested in new games it seems and the lack of good new games are starting to show (opinion obviosuly).

would be great if microsoft/nintendo/sony stopped making consoles have some real video games again and evolution of video games wouldnt be held back on pc.

I currently own an Xbox 360- and I enjoy it :) I also own a Wii and think some of the games are just awesome... and, *gasp* I'm planning on getting a PS3 as soon as there is a price drop so I can enjoy Unchartered 2, LBP, and Sigma 2...does this make me evil???I don't understand the hatred people have behind particular gaming systems... anyone else feel similar?

NO company builds it's own game engines. They use engines from other developers. Like you said, it's cheaper so I don't see what you're going with this. :?

engine's not built for a specific platform will not perform as good or use the consoles special hardware features.

Steam recently added the ability for developers to add DLC but it doesn't work with retail purchases.


This Downloadable Content requires the Steam version of Far Cry 2 in order to play = FAIL

because you misinformed. even my original playstation works dude LOL, my panasonic 3do still works, my sega saturn. i only had to ever buy one, i liked xbox's games, so i bought 4 of them lol, but i had to buy 4 just to get one that last dude, i had 3 die, i bought first one november 2001, died about 2003, bought another died soon after buying it, 3rd same crap, then bought another which still works. so i paid 1200$ just to have 1 working xbox.

microsoft's lack of software actually built for 360 proves they arent dumping much money into it. i paid 300$ for all 3 original broken xbox's that's what? 900$ in paper weight i have microsoft where's my goddamn money?
