Being of the mind that you can learn more from a mistake then a success I have to ask what makes a game unplayable for you. Anything that makes a game so bad in your eyes you wont even touch it.

For me it's when they have mechanics that don't blend with the game or are clumsy. Like in the game of thrones video game(the 2012 one made by cyanide). In order to attack you had to "load" an attack and wait for you character to do it, instead of just having a attack button. It was something that I disliked enough to make me put the game down before I even got out of castle black(yes I didn't really give the game a shot but dammit this is GoT! I expect action mixed in with political intrigue and titties)

Where's the love for Johnny Cage? MK is the only fighting game I've play recently and I usually play Cage. Although I have been playing Cassie too lately. The last non MK fighting game I played was Capcom vs Marvel 3. I had Deadpool and Spiderman as mainstay of my team there, with the 3rd slot being a rotation of whoever I felt like trying out.

@BattleSpectre: I disagree(respectfully). Adding onto what @bmanva said it sounds (to me at least)) your saying video game characters wouldn't make a good role model because they don't have choices, but if you extrapolate that then it would apply to any fictional character(dose superman really want to save metropolis or is he just doing so because the writers penned the story like that). And I agree with Bmanva that role models don't have to be real. I think role models are like art, where everyone has their own opinion on what it is or should be and there's really no general conciseness. As long as you aspire to what they represent I think they count as a role model(I for one wanted to be spider-man growing up) Also the same stuff I said could also be applied to emotions.

A great way to look at it, the both of you helped me look at it from a different perspective and I can't argue or disagree with that.

PS: I always wanted to be Batman... still do.

Picard and Optimus Prime were leadership role models for me growing up.

Picard and Optimus Prime. I think I read some fanfic with them. TNG rules.

and @Toph_Girl250 ya, one of my biggest problems with forums is getting the right post int he correct topic. Off topic seemed like the best choice cause Im not talking about a specific game.

Doing 2160 degree flips on the moon is the ONLY reason I play skating games.

But ya, this is disappointing, I loved the originals, and American Wasteland was my all time favorite. Graphic wise they might just be going for a cartoonish style(although they could still make it look stylish while still looking better then this). Although if the park editor lets me make a deathtrap of a skate park I might pick it up. rent it at least.

Lol exactly. The craziness was part of the fun of the THPS games. Still makes me laugh thinking about holding onto an elephants' tail and being pulled around (think it was THPS 4)... The Skate games were boring to me.

Now my question is to you both, have either of you actually skateboarded in real life?

Because I think that's the deciding factor to enjoying the Skate games.

No, definitely not.

I'm not saying the actual skating is better in the TH games, but the games themselves are just more enjoyable overall. To me anyway. If you want more of a realistic skating game, then yes, Skate is better.

I haven't skateboarded either, mainly because I have the balance of a drunk one legged elephant. but I have tried the skate games(back round when the ps3 first came out I believe) and I do think they are more realistic too. but I like the THPS more, mainly because of the crazy fun.Plus the park editor was a big selling point to me. I don't remember if skate had one, but making lava spiky acid land and then sending each skater to their doom was a big part of my childhood.

After the Skate series came out and revolutionized console skateboarding games, I couldn't care less about THPS.

I play skateboarding games to skateboard, not to do 2160 degree flips on the Moon.

So one thing that I've always wondered is do women consider Lara Croft a good role model or representation of women in gaming? I never really played any tomb raider games so all I know about her is from what I can tell from trailer and such but she seems capable and is always a hero(or at least I assume). And she was never the damsel in distress type(once again, at least I assume). Compared to some of the other outfits Lara's clothing is not that bad, I mean if I went into the jungle I'd wear shorts and a t shirt. Then again I'm a dude so I might be missing something in my opinion of Lara. What do you think. And because this is the internet I expect only the most respectful, thoughtful, totally not spell checked responses people.

For the record when I say Lara croft I mean the 90's ps1-ps3 "Boobs so big she can use them as a reloading bench" Lara, not the rebooted one(not to say those don't count though). Also one last time, I have never really played a tomb raider game.

Only if they let me keep games for more then 1 day. that's long enough to see a movie but nowhere near enough time to fully appreciate a game.
