Well, my first was Grandia. I absolutely loved it, I was around 10 then, but I still love it at 17 now :D

But for a first time RPG in this day and age, I'd say you can't go wrong with Final Fantasy X. You can get it for cheap for one thing. FF7 is great but it's VERY expensive so if I were you I'd make sure you like the RPG style before making a big purchase. FFX has great graphics and a pretty good storyline. There's not a lot of exploration it's pretty simple to know where to go and what to do, but still fun.

I'd also reccommend Grandia II as a starter- this is another series where you don't have to play the first ones to play the second or third each title is independent. The story in this one starts a bit slow but you'll get REALLY into it.

Chrono Cross is a bit different, but in a good way. I'd reccommend it as a second or third one after these. This an old one but you can get it for cheap off ebay.

Have Fun!

Ok thanks you guys. I'm pretty sure now it's legit, the packaging and everything is just plain too good to be fake.

I'm pretty sure they just stopped taking GBA systems and their games about a month or two ago.

And you can probably get a lot of money for those PS1 games on eBay, you'd be stupid to take them to any video game store , even the ones that are independently owned for a trade-in as ANY of those places will give you almost no money or they don't accept them (like gamestop).

Also, if the place doesn't accept them you might get a hoarde of salespeople begging you to give them the games since you were about to basically give them away anyway ;)

I've seen this happen before and have seen a few offer to buy them personally- for a lot less than they're worth of course.

You don't wanna go up to a bunch of avid gamers with unwanted, rare games, let's put it that way.

And you might be surprised by how much something is worth. Some of the older final fantasy games go for 50-100 bucks, but even some games like azure dreams, grandia, wild arms stuff that you may not have thought was worth much can easily get you 20-40 bucks. I wouldn't reccommend selling it in a lot too, you'll make more selling it all individually.

Good luck!

Well does it work in your PS2..?xAcidicFantasyx

Yes, but just because it works doesn't mean it's not a fake. Before I lost my original one, it was fine. I've had it for years, no problems. I'm looking for durability. I don't want one that will delete my files and break in a month.

How do you spot a counterfeit Sony PS2 memory card? I ordered a pack of two red and blue, both 8 mb (of course) off ebay. It was just an individual person with good feedback so I figured I was safe.

The thing is, they look EXACTLY like sony's but I noticed they say made in china- yikes! Aren't they made in Japan?

I checked one I got from Gamestop though and that said made in China too. But perhaps that also is a counterfeit?

Could everyone reading this please tell me if this is supposed to be this way? Perhaps you could check your card? Thanks so much, I just want to know if I'm ok or I need a refund.

Never touched Xbox or Xbox 360. It's not that I have anything against these systems I just haven't had much interest and don't know anyone really well that owns one enough to play theirs. If the price drops years from now when they make another console I think I might buy a 360- solely for Lost Odyssey that games looks like so much fun :)

Also, never touched the SEGA consoles except Dreamcast and Saturn. Oh! I did fiddle with the Pico I saw in a friends basement recently. It kept freezing up though and she only had a pooh one :( That might not count as a "console" though.

I have never touched the Playstation or the Playstation 2.-Sphere-

Wow- you're missing out on a lot of great games! :o

First system was Sega Saturn. I was around 5 or 6. I can still remember how you would turn it on and it'd go,"SEEE-GAAA" haha that was the best. I think the first game I got to play was Virtua Fighter, but I can't be sure as it was so long ago. It's pretty amazing all the advances they've made in video games since I was little, almost makes me feel old- and I'm only 17!

The first game I bought was Pokemon Yellow- I still remember buying it VIVIDLY. I got a lime green GameBoy Color for my 9th birthday but my mom forgot to buy me a game. So I went to walmart and picked it out- I was beyond ecstatic haha.

I was playing my favorite PS1 game, Grandia, this morning and it was fine. Just a little bit ago I put it in and got the dreaded RSOD- the screen that says,"Please Insert Playstation or Playstation 2 game"

I tried looking up information about it but didn't find out much. I read that it's caused by using bootlegs- but this is an original copy, I've had it since the year it came out! It hasn't given me any problems until today.

I'm worried I may have screwed it up. Earlier I did try out the enhancements on my PS2 to see if they would make Grandia look better (where you go to version then options on the browser screen and choose to smooth and make it go faster) But it made it look better, it didn't crash so I don't think this could be the cause- could it?

Also, when I went to play it again, I first went to browser to delete some old files from a PS1 memory card, then went to run the game, and the game didn't work then. But I've deleted stuff from it plenty of times and never had any problems.

Other games work fine.

Someone explain this please!

Brave Fencer Musashi is so much fun! It was the first game I ever got on the Playstation and is still one of my favorites. And yes, I suppose it would be considered rare in that there aren't a ton of copies and it's not cheap to get a copy of. But you can usually find a few copies on eBay.

it was mass produced, define rare? It all depends on how many are floating around. I never played that first one but the second one on ps2 Musashi Samurai Legend was pretty freaking sweet. Its action-rpg. I would play it if I were you!

Are you kidding? That game sucks! I got a refund but I lost an hour of my life.

Actually, I take back what I said earlier about the employees' general lack of rudeness. I just recalled a time when I brought Legend Of Dragoon up to the front counter and the moment the cashier saw the game, he looked at his coworker and furtively made a remark about how much it sucked. I just wanted to smack them both upside the head for insulting my tastes.BladesOfAthena

I hate this too! I would never do something like this. Usually, if I've seen something like this done, it's a young person, like a teenager, so that is almost expected that he might not know anything about customer servce. But I've also seen grown men doing this too! Don't they know anything? It reminds me of when I rented the Record of Lodoss Wars recently. The lady at the counter had to give her opinion on everything. She said,"Oh this is good- IF YOU WANNA FALL ASLEEP?! HAHAHAHA!" Hilarious. Maybe I like it, that's why I'm getting it? So maybe the middle-aged woman still working at Movieland can shut her dumb mouth?

But anyway, at Gamestop, you're trained in how to work the computers (which were so old and worthless at mine, they were impossible to use and deleted info all the time so I'd have to ask customers over and over again the same things, it was awful)and straighten up but they don't tell you squat about customer service, at least in my case. You sort of have to go on common sense. So that's why a lot are so clueless. They think it's the same as talking to their friends or some random person about video games, they don't realize you can't talk to a customer that way!
