I've played Halo longer, so I guess I'd have to go with that. Both are stellar games though, you can't go wrong with either.

[QUOTE="WOWZORS"]Im still shocked people think this game is bad. Its a star wars game, and its focusing on the force, and incorporating it through out the game, what did it do bad? Just because you actually have to aim the grip to throw things the gamplay is fubar'd? I cant wait till you people play fable 2, in for a real shocker.Snugenz

Calling the game bad is going a bit far to whoever is doing that, but if the gameplay got stale and repetitive in the demo, what do you think its going to be like stretched out over the course of an entire game? That's how I, and others, felt playing it. It was ok, but I was convinced it could've been more, with more focus on gameplay and will not buy it because of the demo.

On topic, I tried both demo's and they looked exactly the same as far as I could tell.

Thats why you have a level and skill system (saber, lightning and force), getting the flashy new powers/skills will keep the gameplay from getting stale, and then you have the different endings.

If you're a Star Wars fan and you like damn decent hack & slash gameplay then you'll love this game (i do).

As far as a comparison is concerned i did a little one myself, on the same TV (42" 1080p Bravia) the 360 had slightly better lighting imo, also the reflections on the shiny floors on the PS3 seemed to be absent sometimes.

Oh I completely agree the game is a decent hack n slash w/ force powers. I'm not slamming anybody who liked it. I just wanted more and felt the basic gameplay was unsatisfying. I know new powers and leveling up happens in the game, but if I don't like it at a basic level because of unsatisfactory hit detection, stupid enemy AI and somewhat clunky controls, why would I like it with all that levelled up? And as I've said before in the game's defense, the environments and enemies shown in the ending video of the demo were completely awesome, and the stuff they're doing with the physics and player control over the environment is really @#$%ing cool.

[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"][QUOTE="mistervengeance"]

this game is far far far far far more worthy of GOTY than any other game to have come out this year.

and SMG had no real competition, as neither did gears.

mistervengeance

dude.

Bioshock, orange box, halo 3?

the only real contender was halo 3. and everyone knows how deserving of it's score halo 3 is.

orange box wasn't one single game, i don't think it could techincally win.

bioshock was good, but there was a reason all talk of it completely stopped only a few short months after it's release. it was a little niche, and it was good once. i don't see a reason personally to play through it again.

edit: not saying SMG is a bad game, just saying there wasn't much stopping it from getting GOTY, same reason gears won, in 2006 the only other contender was twilight princess. which again wasn't really a competition gears won automatically.

to put it another way, it's like winning by default.

for example, the 360 is the current rpg king. ever wonder why? there are literally NO good exclusive jrpgs on the wii or ps3 right now. if you actually take a look at the JRPGS on the 360, there isn't anything special at all. the only game that hands 360 as the rpg king is Mass Effect.

Halo deserved the score that it got and it was a legitimate contender for GOTY. So was The Orange Box. Just stop. I still play it, along with Orange Box. The same cannot be said for Galaxy, which I never went back to after beating and ended up selling the Wii.

Owned all 3 at one point. But the Wii went 6-7 months without being turned on, so it got solded. For a profit too :)

Now just have 360 and PS3, and am pleased with both gamewise.

I don't believe this. That's messed up.

No, it's not. Video games are something parents have to constantly worry about. Drinking can be done responsibly, even by teenagers. If I were my parents, I would certainly trust me to drink responsibly. The same goes for all of my friends. FFS, I bonded with my best friend's dad over a couple of glasses of scotch when I was fourteen. For some families, drinking simply isn't a worry.

But video games? Habitual gaming takes the place of alcohol abuse. They can't get access to alcohol as minors, but they CAN get access to games. It's just as addictive, and it's just as destructive to a teenager's sense of responsibility as alcohol abuse is to an adult.

THAT is why parents worry more about video games than drinking.

You make it sound like video games can not be played responsibly.

They can, but the line between "responsible gaming" and "abusive gaming" is much thinner than the line between "responsible drinking" and "abusive drinking." It's much easier to slip into abuse with gaming.

This survey was about fears over violent games, not habitual video game playing. I'm sure there's truth in obsessive game playing being detrimental to anybody, but this isn't about that. It's about shallow, stupid parents looking for a scapegoat for their own inadequacies and carelessness, and saying violent video games cause more damage to a person's life than underage drinking and teenage sex (not even mentioning constant bombardment of violence from movies, books, the news, and the internet). Nothing more, nothing less.

[QUOTE="PAL360"][QUOTE="shakmaster13"][QUOTE="mijkil"]

Im a VETERAN PC gamer and I find Halo3s campaign to be up there with tthe very best ive played.

People can whine all they like, but there is no other fps that is half as much pure FUN as a good halo campaign.

shakmaster13

thats how i know you're not a pc gamer. nobody who has ever played half-llife2 would ever consider halo3 even an A game

And now i know you have never played Halo3!

oh i have. except i got bored to the point of just quiting the game and never playing the sp again after the part where you kill guilty spark

That's the very end of the game...you're telling us that you put up with this "mind-numbing boredom" 95% of the way through the game, then decided you couldn't take it anymore and shut it off? Pictures or it didn't happen : )~

Spore, LBP, Gears 2 all have shots, but we have to play them before we know for sure. Spore and LBP certainly look to be more innovative than much else that has been released this year. GTA4 and MGS4 were both 3 weeks of play and done for me. I've played every prior GOTY much longer than that.

theres never gonna be a "halo killer". killzone 2 is gonna be an amazing shooter for the ps3 but its not like halo fans are gonna wanna play kz2.nahmean187

I like Halo, I wanna play KZ2. But you're right, I don't think either game is going to cancel out the other, there's room for both.

On topic, well, we all know KZ2 looks fantastic and it has some promising multiplayer features. Basically, if the enemy AI is there, the controls are tight and intuitive, and we have good variety of different ways to tackle any confrontation, this will be AAA I think.
