Well, if it's in the game it's in the game. I don't play online very much these days but I've played Unreal Tournament '99 for about 3 years on a pretty high level and if you want to play on that kind of level you have no choice but to adjust by watching lots of demos & getting your ass kicked again & again until you know how to 'abuse' all those cheap little tricks and glitches yourself. If you want to go godlike on a good server with good players those cheap tricks and glitches just need to be part of your arsenal because the other players know about them too and they will use them against you without remorse or pity if you let them. That's called playing to win. On these kind of servers even real cheaters will get their asses served to them if they don't know how to properly play the game in the first place. (Which raises the question, why cheat anyway?) I guess the only cheap tactic I find really irritating in FPS games is spawn camping but even with that, you just have to be patient, the time for ruthless revenge is always nigh.

Then again, I've never used or enjoyed using most of those devilish tactics on random public servers with lots of newbies & other lowlifes. It's just no fun and most serious players of very competitive games will probably agree with me on this. It's like beating up an 8 year old. Besides, sometimes it's just nice to play for the hell of it with a cold beer in one hand and your keyboard and mouse in the other ;)

Perhaps you could weave something unique to one of the worlds into your story. Like a golden watch he only owns in the real world. That way you can pull guilt into the plot (he could have known, he should have known, etc..) and guilt is always a good and believable ingredient if you decide to let your character go insane.

I know i'm generalizing a bit for the sake of discussion but for many Europeans, exept perphapsthose UKbased, anything above Mexico isUSA. I'm notlying.Of courseeveryone istaught in school thatit's a different countrybutby the time they leave schoola lot ofpeoplehave forgotten allready. Canada is also rarely on the news overhere and not many 'things' areexclusively linked in the European mindto it. :(

It's funny you mention Canada. For many Europeans Canada is so closely linked to the US they actually think that it IS a state. (Or they confuse it with Alaska or someplace like that.)

Normally I just lurk here but I read a few of the 'country' posts and threads(what do like about America, etc) which made me wonder. How do you, Americans, think and feel about us, Europeans? And how much do you know about us? Because of all the input we get from the US (movies, television, music) I think we know quite a bit about you. From some of your more unhealthy food habits to the way your justice system works.

Just recently I was playing a game with my girlfriend about how many US states each of us could name and we got to forty or something. How many European countries could you name from off the top of your head and could you easily locate them on a map? Do you know something about the history of Europe? Do you know the names of the capitals and which languages are spoken were? How long do you think it would take to travel from Amsterdam to Paris by car?

I'm just curious. I'm not expecting you to answer all these questions of course. This is not school :) Basically, it just comes down to this, do 'you' folks think you know 'us'?

(Speaking of Amsterdam, where I happen to live, I sometimes get the feeling that most of you think it's some kind of Sodom and Gomorra. Well, I'm proud to say it is. We smoke weed all day long and visit hookers in the bosses time.)
