In all seriousness, here is a post by Wasdie that explains what GUFU is.

To be serious, since I am the leader, I might as well inform all.

GUFU is the Gamespot Users Fellowship Union and it was started in 2006 out of a group of users who primarily posted in System Wars. Around that time System Wars was a very different place as the console race was just getting really heated and there was a lot of speculation. This brought upon a lot of fanboyism as well as a group of people who were actually interested in discussing the differences between the consoles and games to have a better understanding of both what was going on and the mentality of other gamers.

This was difficult to do as fanboys pretty much took control of every discussion with the same 5-6 redundant arguments that were both pointless and really flawed (so ok it hasn't changed much). As a result these users decided to make a union to have system wars related discussions and debates.

However as the years past the members all became very good friends and really stopped caring soley about System Wars and just talked about gaming in general. This has morphed into kind of a club of GS users who are very social, very friendly, open-minded, talkative, and mature. Today we still have an open voting policy to allow new members in to enhance our little mini community within the larger GS community (which rocks BTW).

Within GUFU we have an active IRC channel which GUFU members are on 24/7 (23 are online as I write this), we play a lot of video games together on all platforms, and we have an active board where more discussion continues as well as little competitions and fun things.

Because I know it will be asked, to get into GUFU you have to be recognized by a member of GUFU as a good poster who they feel will make a great addition to the union. They don't have to meet some certain criteria, they just have to be a good person of which a member of GUFU feels would make our little community better. Once they are nominated they are casually voted on by all the members who wish to participate. After awhile of voting I invite those of which GUFU believes will add to the community.

We still talk a lot about system wars and are very involved in that board but by no means are a system wars only union. In fact have been trying to get members to nominate more OT GS posters to change things up a bit.Wasdie
