I am trying to do a simple upgrade on my computer, its not that great of a pc but a new video card would add a little life too it. after talking here on the forums i went with the a HIS ATI Radeon HD 4670 Ice-q for price and quality, here is the link:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161252

well i got it in today and well it doesn't fit. I have a Dell E521 and had never opened it until then. First thing i noticed was that it opened on the right side (my right hand side if i am looking at the front of the PC) where i am not used to seeing it open. so everything is upside down and backwards compared to what consider normal. well the card has a big fan on it that now did not line up with the slots because it was faceing up and the cpu fan and heat sink blocked the card from fitting. i just really wanted this to be simple, guess not.

Now I guess I would have to build a new pc to get any upgrade worth getting. sooo... what should I do? I have this card already and would like to use it, and I do have some parts I could scrap from this PC. What would be the cheapest and easyest way to upgrade, I would love to keep my hard drive intact (because i have alot of important files on it) I have a dvd rw drive, video card and 4 gigs ddr 2 ram. are the any barebones pc's that are good, with a good PSU that would let me use my parts for awhile maybe a year until i can do a big upgrade? I would like it do be better than my comp, worth the upgrade and as cheap as possible. like $500 dollars is way too much to spend. and i would like to go intel but I don't know whats better AMD or intel for games.

here are my specs right now:

Dell E521

AMD Athlon 64 X2 +5200 2.6 ghz

Windows XP media center

4 gig ddr 2 ram

nvidia geforce 7300le

integrated sound

DVD R/RW

I'm going through upgrades to my PC. I'm trying to work out what I should get to improve all areas of my PC to play newer games. currently this is what I have

Dell Dimension E521

AMD Athlon 64 X2 +5200 2.6 ghz dual core (windsor)

Dell 0CT103 motherboard

2 gig ram

Nvidia geforce 7300LE 512 mb

Windows XP media center

Here is what I am adding

2 gig ram

HIS Radeon HD 4670 IceQ Turbo 512

my question is can i upgrade my CPU? What is the max chip that my MB will take. If i can upgrade how will that work with my other upgrades and the power supply. (I don't know my current power supply, but if there is a way to tell without opening the PC that would be great)

how big is the CoD 4 community on the PC i had it on 360 and loved it, but I traded it last summer to get some new stuff. I'd love to play CoD4 pc if there are alot of people who still play that and there are new maps and mods.

I've looked at all the reviews and game vids but i'm still confused about what to get there are too many good ones out now. I am getting a new comp and want to get into gameing again, the last FPS game i got for the PC was UT2004.There a a few things i'm looking for when i'm getting a FPS.

1. gameplay, I don't want the controls to be to complicated. also I don't mind about graphics, if the gameplay is awsome i'll forgive that part.

2. Multiplayer, has to have a good strong community with some staying power, hate when I buy a game and there is no one to play with.

3. single player is fun, I'd like to play offline but not as important to me as multiplayer.

What are the best options if i was to say i'm just going to get one maybe two games (there are so many but i don't want to splurge to bad.)?

Edit: I forgot to ad i'm looking at PC games only

thats good it allows offline play. do any of you have steam and do you like it? I feel a little strange about not having a tangible disc that i can pop into a tray.

I'm getting a new computer to start playing PC games, after researching diffrent games and places to buy them I saw steam. It seems a cool place to buy games but i'm confused by it and how it works. What is the average wait time it takes when you download a game like crysis or far cry 2 from steam? Also do you have to be loged onto the internet everytime you start up one of these games?
