Humm, that looks like a female.

[QUOTE="JordanElek"]He didn't want to start from the ground-up because almost all the resources would be spent on simply making the game - the graphics, the storyline, all that stuff. By using a ready-made game, all his team has to do is tweak the graphics to work on the Wii and the rest of the time can be spent mastering the controls. If this is their first Wii game, then I'm sure it will take a lot of work to get a good control scheme going.
I don't know about you guys, but I would think programming a quality control scheme for the Wii remote is extremely difficult and tedious, especially for a first try.

It makes sense putting it that way (although I don't think we should be so easy with devs), but the way he said, it just non sense.
Hummm, I think I understand both view points of this intereview better now. But yes, he does sound like he is just saying non-sense on the surface.
I get that it would be harder to make the game for Wii from the ground up AND give it great controls which is why he made this mostly a pretty looking port (well, mostly pretty looking) that is focused on the wii-mote.
But what I don't really get is his willing-ness to throw his hands up and say "screw the Wii, we tried" and make the real new Ryar on another console. I mean, if this portof a not-very-well-known-PS2-game-from-5-years-ago doesn't do well because of how much Wii fans are tried of this porting mess with 3rd partiesthan he will likely give up on a real new Wii Ryar and just make it's real new game on another console even thou he openly says that "the wiimote brings Rygar to the next level".
I have already seen people hyped for it turn around and say "screw this! It's just a port!" which makes me wonder how well it could REALLY do.
IMO it's like. . . a race. Like he is saying to the Wii racer "Hey! I really like your uniqueness in control and what not! Your just what Im looking for!" But than he says that the only way to get the chance to be in the BIG race is if the Wii racer can clear the 100m dash in a good time after throwing a heavy back-pack on it and stabbing it once in both legs. . .
I hope he does some more intereviews. . .
I came across this over at gonintendo.com

This is. . . a very odd sounding interview.
When asked why this game is a port of a 5 year old PS2 game Keisuke Kikuchi replies with this
"So in the case of a new Rygar, my focus was on how to best utilize the Wii control. Everything is built around the Diskarmor control using the Wii controller. Of course I could have started everything from scratch on a new Rygar project, but if I was to do that it might not have been on Wii, we could have done it for PS3, 360, PS2. However, why we focused on Wii was because of what we could do with the Wii controller. Because of that, even though the game may be based on a five year-old game, as you call it, it will still feel very fresh and very unique on the Wii system. That way I can focus on that one important thing."
WTH is he talking about? Can someone help me out here. . . it seems that he wants this game toreally use the unique motion controls fond only on Wii butfor some reason if he had to make the game from the ground up it "could" have ended up on the 360/PS3 or even the flippingPS2.Doesn't really make sense to me. . . why not make it brandnew?
Heres another odd part when asked about a newRygar onwii/360 or PS3. . .
" to me, working on this Wii version is sort of a stepping stone to the next Rygar, whether it's going to be on 360 or PS3, we don't know yet"
So he plains on doing a new Rygar after this one. . .and than he says this when asked about a new Wii Rygra.
"Yes, if this becomes a successful project, I'd like to do the sequel on the Wii again."
So he bases this game on a PS2 game from 5 years ago with major focus on the Wii mote controls/ changes to the models/ new enemies/ spit shine the look some (but no wide screen. . .) and if, by some stroke of bad luck, this port of a 5 year old game doesn't do very well he will just say "screw it" and make Rygar on one ofthe other systems.
Im sorry but I don't see the logic in this. He wants to make another Rygar, we know that much. But he basicaly makes this Wii Rygar a port with nothing new other thanlooks/ enemies and controlsbecause "the wii mote brings Rygar to the next level" yet is fullywilling to toss the Wii aside if this port of a not-so-well-known PS2 game doesn't do well. It's like the cards are already stackedin favor of this game not doing well yet it's sells/ success are going to make or brake a true new Wii Rygar. . .
IMO Tecmo is lucky that I have never played the Ps2 Rygar and will likely get this because it's priced at $40 and the fact that I think my friend said the PS2 one was good. So they got one sell off me. . . what do you all think? Yall getting this game or skipping it because it's a port?
