I'll pick this up when it gets a huge discount. Not going to pay €60 for mainly a graphics update.
"as if a blurry, gray filter has suddenly been lifted"
This only makes sense when you've played the original last week or maybe last month. When I played it on my Xbox360 it looked fantastic. When I climed the Throat of the World for the first time, it was awesome. The fact that now the snow glistens a bit more, doesn't make me wanna buy this instead of an other triple A game.
€60 on PS4! Are you kiddin me!! This is one of my favorite games ever, but maybe half that amount could make me interested.
Honestly, how long will the effect of "wow, look at those pretty trees" last? And the difference isn't even that noticeable!! This is Bethesda making a quick and easy buck. For full price they should have done Oblivion 4col!!!
"It's exhilarating, even in the face of failure. It's compelling, even though we often lose. Victory is the goal, but that's just an afterthought here--it's the complex journey that counts."
That sounds great (and very poetic) but I've played XCOM 1 and this was the reason I didn't finish it. I don't mind losing a certain level. I'll try and try and try again if needed. But XCOM1 gave me the feeling that the only victory I could achieve was a pyrus victory, probably because I made the wrong decision somewhere in the beginning of the game. I came to a point that even my most advanced soldiers hit more air than aliens, got mind controlled at every turn and because I lost many countries I was supposed to protect, my resources plummeted.
Again; I don't mind a difficult game, but I do mind putting 20/30 hours in it and then noticing I'd best start over because I screwed up somewhere.
@Donut0389: I know it's a freakin videogame and I know you BF-fans like your vehicles. I'm just saying it could be a tiny bit more realistic if they'll leave out one or two tanks each round. Now it's kinda tank heaven.....also I have no buddies......
I understand this game won't be 100% historically accurate, but tanks are way to dominant. During WW I they were hardly commisioned due to high costs and unreliability. They were prone to break down, vulnerable to grenades and got stuck easily. That wooden beam for instance that you may have noticed on top of a Landship, was there to help it get out of bomb craters. Not exactly the 'go anywhere, do anything' type of vehicle as is portrayed in BF1. And also the crew had a hellish time due to dehydration because of the heat and nearly suffocating because of bad exhausts.
So maybe limit the amount of tanks available, nerf them somewhat or give a health penalty for being in them to long?
@nabinator: You are probably right about Morrowind, but I'm wondering about a remake of Oblivion. It feels more urgent to do a remake of that game. I tried it out recently on my old XBox360 and it felt dated where Skyrim definitely doesn't. Allthough the addition of mods sounds fun, to me it doesn't justify buying a game just for the high res trees, snow and dragons.
This is the second time this season that the credits roll and my first reaction was 'wait, that's it?!'
The whole scene at the Twins was useless. In the book they just skip it and have the situation explained during the siege we'll see next week. That's a lot of production money just wasted right there.
They could have take the runtime of that scene and put more time in the part with Bran. I would have liked to see more emotion there. I mean he just saw his whole family being butchered in a green dream and his reaction is like "Whaa! Phew, that was a scary dream about [insert cliche nightmare here], but everything is fine now". Come on! A little more depth there would have been nice.
