Mainly it's because you would need a top-end pc. And so more people can enjoy (pay for) the game

I know people still play Star Wars Battlefront 2 online, I was one of them just a few days ago.

I've never played it. But I heard it was full of lag.

And it had less people than Quake3 on the Dreamcast. There's always someone to play Quake3 :3
