First Video Upload

This is my first video blog. Its a video about the anti-piracy campaign during the early 90's. Its kind of funny to watch the old stuff on TV. Its worth watching in my opinion. Please watch the video and recommend it if you found it entertaining enough. You can expect a few more videos in the coming weeks. :D

Next-Gen Console Wars

everyone's talking about next-gen consoles. as the release date of the wii and ps3 draws closer and closer people cant help but talk about it. here's my take on next gen consoles.

everyone hated the ps3 conference and i must agree, it was quite bad. xbox 360 had a good lineup of games. nintendo wii was the most promising of all with its totally different controller. its actually very hard to say which console will be number 1.

the ps3 has good power but compared to last year its features have been stripped down. the only thing left for sony to rely on are its loyal customers and the game titles that will be released for it. playstation was considered the mainstream console until now. the ps3 has been targeted towards hardcore gamers with huge pockets. but even hardcore gamers found the price of the ps3 very expensive even though i still dont understand how people can pay $300-600 for a high end graphics card(which is always replaced by a more powerful graphics card within a year) and still complain about the pricing of the ps3. the only complaint i have about the ps3 is the pricing and the controller. the dual shock was much better than motion sensing. considering the fact that sony got sued for using the dual shock technology, motion sensing was the only option sony had. and definitely it was poorly implemented. looking at those guys play at the e3 conference made me think that if a person plays for, maybe, 3-4 hours a day he would definitely hurt his wrists. sony really lost out on the controller and pricing part of it. the good part about the ps3 is its power and its game titles. the ps3 can perform better than other consoles for sure. and the games lined up for release are great. most of the ps2 and ps1 owners are asian i guess(who do not have deep pockets). by keeping the price this high many people will look for other alternatives(xbox 360 or wii).

xbox 360 on the other hand has taken a very different stance this time. it is the mainstream console of the next generation. theyve definitely got a really good line up of games and the pricing is not bad either. backwards compatibility is an issue which theyre trying to straighten out before the release of the ps3 and wii. gta 4 for the 360 was a great achievement and for the time being its only been announced for the 360. what microsoft should focus on is the asian market. the 360 is not doing very well in japan. they should try getting more games that appeal to asain gamers. most of the shooters reflect american attitude and american likes. something from capcom, namco, konami, etc. would really give the 360 a huge sales boost in the asian market.

the wii is a console designed for casual and hardcore gamers alike. its wiimote totally changes the common viewpoint that people have about gamers. it encourages players to get of their couch and put their lazy *** to work(not exactly work; play would be a better word for that). its pricing, functionality and uniqueness set it apart from the rest. what nintendo should focus a little more on is the graphics. nintendo has always been targeting the younger audience but they should consider older gamers as well. what im referring to are the game titles.

now, the final question. who will be the winner in the battle of the consoles?

i believe its going to be the 360. the second place would go to the ps3 or the wii. as long as sony doesnt have a significant price drop we wont see sales going through the roof. it totally depends on comsumer preference here. sonys brand name and game tiltles will work for it while nintendo's pricing and innovation could help it succeed. like i said, it totally depends on consumer preference and how they would react to sonys brand name and nintendo's innovation.

Finally

(my first ever blog post)

finally, i can relax! my exams just got over. even though i screwed it up really bad everyone tells me that i cant blame myself for it. i was sick for a long time and couldnt attend any classes.

anyway, leaving the boring stuff behind, i've got a lot of games to play, a lot of fun summer activities to look forward to. something thats not so depressing as college work(even though i did enjoy college and did get respectable grades before i got sick).

thankfully, i havent played many of my games yet, just because i believe that games can only be enjoyed to the fullest when you dont have any work to do. the bad thing is not many good games are being released this summer. but most probably i dont think i'll be able to finish all my games till the end of this summer vacation. i will write reviews for the games i played as soon as i finish playing them.

looking forward to summer full of fun!
