^ Nice review.

I'm loving this game...nearly 70 hours in. The developers gave you a world to run (or drive, or fly) around in and have fun. The game delivers fun in spades. It's not perfect, but I'm having so much fun with it I don't care about the minor shortcomings.

No big loss. I can only speak for myself, but I only bought a Madden game every 4 or 5 years anyway.

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness is surely a candidate, if not an outright winner. Ran like a limping dog on high-end hardware and looked terrible.

Agreed on all the thoughts so far. The games like Witcher, STALKER and Metro have a different feel to them than games produced in the west, which is a good thing. The point above about them making games they want to make is very, very true. Sure, some games may be a little rough around the edges and they can be also pretty difficult, but I'd take that anyday over the types of games we often see, where they mollycoddle you at every step.

I'm currently playing Dirt 2, which is extremely satisfying and highly reccommended to racing fans. Other than that the following games have been really notable in recent weeks: The almighty Dragon Age Origins was immense. (Got the expansion but haven't started it yet.) Batman AA was so worthwhile Napoleon Total War is, as always with the Total War series, epic. The only disappointments so far this year for me have been Bioshock 2 and STALKER Call of Pripyat. Neither were much of a sequel, imo. EDIT: I forgot to add Bad Company 2, which was terrific.

I tend to freak out a little when I see jaggies on screen, I must be honest. If there is a jaggie to be found, I'll notice it. There you are admiring this stunning view when, all of a sudden, the entire scene is ruined by a few ghastly jaggies popping up unannounced. I always run at least 2XAA, but sometimes up to 8xAA. (At 1680x1050) The only time I'll turn it off is when I'm hitting below 30 fps.

I didn't experience the specific problems you're referring to, but I wasn't running the game on those settings. It's possible a patch will solve some of these issues down the road. Personally, considering the level of detail you're running, I'd just accept it.

I just got this brand new computer that is supposed to be very "good" about three weeks ago, and I hadnt really been enjoying it. I am trying to play some old games on it that wouldnt run properly on my old computer so I installed "Act of War" and before I enter the game, a message comes up saying "ACTOFWAR.EXE has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem" and when I hit that, another message comes up saying "Runtime error 217 at 001B2E14" so I am pretty much stuck right now and I cant phone Atari anymore since they only have online forums which dont help me. And I was installing another old game which was "Emperor: Battle For Dune" and that same message comes up. Another game is "Far Cry" except for this game, I cant even install it, a message comes up that says "Feature Transfer Error. Error: -1603 Fatal Error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information."

So yeah I having alot of problems which sucks cus this is a brand new computer. "Emperor: Battle For Dune" has worked before on this exact same model, but sadly that computer was defective and had to exchange it (thats a whole other story) so does anyone have any ideas for at least one of these games why it wont work and how to fix it? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

For Act of War, this link may help you: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=682738 For Far Cry, I got this from Microsoft.com regarding a 1603 fatal installation error message: (Copied and pasted the relevant bit) "Grant Full Control permissions to the SYSTEM account. (for Windows 2000 and Windows XP only) Use this method if you receive the error message because the SYSTEM account does not have Full Control permissions on the folder that you try to install the Windows Installer package to. To grant Full Control permissions to the SYSTEM account, follow these steps: On the Windows desktop, double-click My Computer. The My Computer window appears. Right-click the drive that you want to install the Windows Installer package to, and then click Properties. Click the Security tab. On the Security tab, do the following: If you are using Microsoft Windows 2000, verify that the Name box contains the SYSTEM user account. If you are using Microsoft Windows XP, verify that the Group or user names box contains the SYSTEM user account. If the SYSTEM user account does not appear in the box, follow these steps to add the SYSTEM account to the box: Click Add. The Select Users or Groups dialog box appears. In the Name field, click SYSTEM, and then click Add. Click OK. In the Permissions section, click to select the Full Control check box under Allow, and then click Advanced. Do the following: If you are using Windows XP, in the dialog box that appears, click to select the Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects check box for the SYSTEM account, and then click OK. If you are not using Windows XP, in the dialog box that appears, click to select the Reset permissions on all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions check box for the SYSTEM account, and then click OK. Note If you receive a security message, click Yes. Wait for the operating system to apply the permissions that you have selected to all child folders. Run the Windows Installer package." I don't know if these suggestions wil help you, but it's worth a try.

I still play Crysis and Crysis Warhead all the time. I've also downloaded a ton of user levels and uploaded a few. My thoughts on Crysis? LEGEND.
