Not sure if talking about texture hacking is against Gamespot's ToU, but I think it's pretty easy to do if you care enough.

Just looked up a screenshot I took when Ulduar came out but the instance servers were down so everyone was stuck outside. Stopped counting at 70, and that was on Andorhal, a medium pop Pvp server. I'm sure other servers can get well over 50 in one spot pretty regularly.
Madden has to be up there, imo.
Surprised nobody has mentioned TF2. So I will. :)
.....aaaaaaannnnd here's the reason everybody loves the GC and hates on the Wii. Much the same way everyone here has a nerdgasm whenever the Dreamcast gets mentioned, it's cool (well, as far as the word "cool" goes on here, we ARE on a video game message board after all) on System Wars to love the "underdog" and hate the popular choice.
This whole phenomenon can be very closely compared to why Indie Music's so highly revered (read entry #41 from Stuff White People Like). You can practically replace every mention of music with Nintendo and have it apply perfectly in here.
And no, it's not because of the games; people just tend to look at the N64 and GC lineup with rose-coloured nostalgia glasses.
Also, IMO the GC controller is one of the worst gamepads ever made, behind the fat Xbox and DC.

Heh, that was interesting. But at least in my case I'm not just looking back at a system I haven't touched in 4 years. I still play SSBM somewhat frequently. And the Gamecube had a bunchofgames that scored and sold well, it's not exactly obscure.
Consoles do have a few advantages over PC. Namely...
Cost (though it's not as big a difference as people think)
Ease of use
Local multiplayer (which seems like it's being phased out in favor of online play for some reason)
And some people just like console exclusives more than PC ones.
GCN was better at this point in their lifecycles, but itis one of the more underrated consoles. I mean, people rank the XBOX above the Gamecube...Halo's good, but the Gamecube lineup was way better overall.
It's unfortunate how pervasive piracy is now in all industries. I mean, doesn't Sweden's Pirate Party hold 2 seats in the EU? People have no respect for digital property.
Tough to beat '98 and '04. But at least it looks a lot better than this past year.
[QUOTE="ferelas"]Actually funnily enough I own gamecube & ps2 and prefer gamecube. I used to own a ps1 & n64 but always preferred n64. But I prefer psp for the same reasons. Less games, yes but better games.I have a feeling the same people who say the PSP is better than the DS also say PS1 was better than N64 and PS2 was better than Gamecube. Graphics aren't everything. (then again, I don't have either handheld, so you can probably ignore my opinion. :P)

Fair enough. At least you're consistent; that's more than can be said for most people.
