This game is the other side of the coin everyone has been complaining about: It's got superb graphics and tight controls, but the content is lackluster and the general game design is poor and boring. This comes to prove that gorgeous graphics or well-fitted control schemes or a compelling story or an outstanding gameplay alone won't make good a game "per se".

Many great games are ruined because of an unwieldy control scheme, but The Conduit it the exact opposite: A game delightful to look at and jump into, but its gameplay and desing flaws simply make worthless these bright points. When developers learn to do both of these things at the same time, we'll see a golden age for third-party Wii games (if they manage to do it at all).

I always choose the grass-type Pokémon as starter, since I love Bulbasaur and Chikorita. But in Ruby/Saphire, I choose Mudkip.

I started playing Platinum a couple days ago, and I chose Chimchar, since the others did not quite appealed to me that much (though Piplup is kinda cute).

Yeah. I can promise they'll give a 9.0 star like no one post a thread here about how game's optimisation sucks.murekkep

And sure they did! I can hardly believe that they actually scored it a 9.0!!!

Sure GS team has top-notch hardware for their test at their disposal, but RockStar promised us a game that's "...PLAYABLE on a 3-year old computer", emphasis mine.

I would like to see if someone out there managed to PLAY (not just start, but to play through without much hassle) this game with anything less that 8800GTX SLi

Alright. It's been almost a full week since PC's incarnation of GTA IV was released, and most big gaming media have not yet issued a review. But why, you may wonder? Console version's review was out a couple daus before the launch date, as usual with such a blockbuster title.

Maybe it's because they don't want to slap this game with a much deserved 5.0- score, since it's such a buggy, shameful mess of a port. One of GS' prime rules on reviews is that they will never change the score once it's been published, even if a patch actually enhances the game far beyond expectations. Maybe they're just waiting for Rockstar to release that much needed patch and then, only then, will they review the game the way it "deserves".

I think it's quite unfair. They're giving sinecures to this game. They should review the retail software, and not the patched one, just like they refused to issue a review on Ninja Gaiden II for X360 until they got their hands on the retail logic. Maybe they just don't want to admit that their perfect-scored game turned out to be such a bummer on the PC.

I agree with Majora's Mask and Super Smash Brothers.

It seems everyone (me among them) wanna see Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on the VC, but it seems unlikely, since now Rare belongs to M$.

There is hope, however. Since Viva Piñata is coming to the DS and Banjo Kazooie already did on GBA, it looks like MS may be willing to allow Rareware to release those titles (and all of the others) on the VC, like Killer Instinct, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie and of course: Goldeneye and Perfect Dark!

Let's pray and wait.

The "problem" with the Wii is that Nintendo won't make "Core games" (read it "Halo or GTA"), but when they do seat and make a game, they come up with something like MP3:C or Mario Galaxy. Only Nintendo seems to have the creativity to flesh out the unique capabilities of the Wii, while the others' limited brains and imaginations simply can't cope with the novelty and remain stuck with the old gaming paradigms. While Nintendo pushes on and broadens even further the scope for innovation, the others are beating their brains out trying to figure out how to program the SPU's so that they can make last year's great looking game to look even better (though the game sucked in every other aspect).

The Wii is by far the most suitable platform for FPS, but there aren't many of them (and most of those few are horrendous), mainly because the Wii cannot provide developers with the only thing that seems to matter on a FPS: Impresive graphics. if you got that, then you got a bes-seller, even if the rest of the game is crap.

Maybe the sad truth is that the industry (and mankind in general) is not ready for something as ground-breaking as the Wii barebones. Sum up the WiiMotion Plus and what little was left of the developer's brains explode. Where are the Jordan Mechners, the John Carmacks, the Will Wrights (oh wait, Spore is coming to the Wii!). Where are those pioneer genii that revolutionized our industry with way far less that a Wiimote?

Let's hope I can get to gather my development team and enough budget to make a full fledged game before the Wii era is over, and then you'll see a third party game on par with Nintendo's own creations.

And as of the topic, I'm quite optimistic about the WM+, but only for Nintendo. I don't think anyone else will come up with something trully impressive.

I'd say "Ping Pals" if THAT would actually be a game.

I live in Colombia. As soon as I knew that Castlevania - PoR was to be bundled with the 20th anniversary packagefor preorders, I ordered mine from EBGames. So I got it by january 2007. The interesting part of this is that I do not have a DS myself. But now that the Gold+Phantom Hourglass DS has been revealed, I'll do the same and ask a friend of mine to purchase it at Sears and send it to me from the US. I'm also looking forward to buy Metroid Prime - Hunters and Dementium-the Ward as soon as it is avalilable here.
