Honestly, I'd say that this isn't as bad as that Microsoft tech that watches viewers to see if too many people are watching a video file... As someone who has recently started PC gaming, I already put up with no second hand sales on my platform. It's really not as bad as people talk about. If they do Steam-esque sales on their games and offer them all digitally, this could be a major success. If they put it out there and do no sales ever, it will flop.
As stupid as I think this whole idea is, you have to admit that the vast majority of games are about "punching people in the face." Replace punching with shooting, stabbing, slashing, exploding, hitting etc.. yes they tell epic stories, but combat is almost always a core mechanic. Not saying that about every game, but most.
It doesn't crack 4 figures. Here in Seattle, a shop in the U-District has both 2 and 4 complete with box and manual. They're asking a few hundred or something.
